Maladaptive feeding comprises unhealthy eating patterns that jeopardize survival, including over- and underconsumption. These behaviors are often coordinated by endogenous opioid receptors (EORs). Here, we explore the involvement of EORs in obesity anorexia nervosa (AN), two disorders associated with dysregulated behavior relevant animal models. While seemingly opposing metabo-psychiatric states, our goal is to highlight common circuit synaptic mechanisms underlying AN a focus on EOR functionality. We examine neural substrates maladaptive comorbid conditions pain, suggesting role for EOR-driven plasticity pathogenesis both AN.

Binge drinking and binge eating are prevalent, frequently co-occurring, high-risk behaviors among emerging adult women, each with physical psychological consequences. The mechanisms driving their co-occurrence not well understood, though a history of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) may increase the risk for both behaviors. To assess association between ACE subtypes individual co-occurring in women.A diverse sample women participating population-based study EAT 2018: Eating Activity over Time (N = 788; aged 18-30; 19% Asian, 22% Black, Latino, 36% White).Multinomial logistic regression estimated associations (i.e., sexual abuse, emotional household dysfunction), drinking, eating, co-occurrence. Results reported as predicted probabilities (PP) outcome.Over half (62%) at least one ACE. In models mutually adjusted other ACEs, abuse showed strongest behaviors. Experiences had ten-percentage point higher probability (PP 37%, 95% [CI 27-47%]) seven-percentage PP 12%, CI [5-19%]). Emotional an 11-percentage only 20%, [11-29%]).This found to be particularly relevant factors women.

Abstract Objective To investigate associations between identity intersectionality, with a primary focus on minority identity, and probable eating disorders (EDs) within the US college student population. Method Data consisting of n = 414,299 students' responses to American College Health Association's National Assessment fall 2015 spring 2019 were utilized for this study. Overall stratified adjusted odds ratios (aORs) used assess association different facets (i.e., race/ethnicity, gender sexual orientation) EDs. Results Among all, in our analytic sample, 7.15% reported ED. Interactions all three variables significant, thus evaluated. Transgender men significantly more likely report ED than cisgender male peers following racial/ethnic groups: non‐Hispanic White (aOR: 3.33; 95% CI: 2.79, 3.96; p < .0001), Black 3.29; 1.72, 6.28; .0003), Hispanic 2.31; 1.55, 3.43; Asian or Pacific Islander 2.19; 1.45, 3.30; .0002), Biracial Multicultural 3.36; 2.17, 5.22; other 4.19; 2.25, 7.79; .0001). Conclusions This study underscores importance increasing understanding interactions marginalized identities ways which informs risk. Past research indicates that young adult cigarette smokers are at risk of engaging in maladaptive eating behaviors (MEBs); however, whether this relationship extends to nicotine vaping is unclear. The current study assessed bidirectional associations between four types MEBs and among adults. 1,303 adults (20.5 ± 2.3 years; 63 % female) from a public, urban university were recruited completed online surveys six-month intervals spring 2021 (W1) 2023 (W5). 30-day (susceptibility external cues, emotional eating, routine restraint, compensatory restraint) evaluated. Longitudinal cross-lagged models examined the relationships past each type MEB across five waves. Nicotine predicted both susceptibility cues (β = 0.10, p <.05; Wave 2 3) 0.08, 1 2). A significant cross-lag regression (Wave 4 5) showed restraint <.05), 0.12, <.05). Results indicated MEBs; differed waves, which may have been due COVID-19 pandemic context. reflecting vulnerability environment emotion regulation during period heightened restrictions, whereas later when restrictions had ceased only restraint. Objectives: Eating disorders (EDs) have emerged as a growing public health concern. However, the role of sleep in this context remains underexplored. The aim cross-sectional study was to determine associations between parameters and chronotype with ED risk sample university students Spain. Methods: assessed via Sick, Control, One stone, Fat, Food Questionnaire, quality Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Other chronotypes were self-reported. Sociodemographic, body composition, lifestyle, depressive symptom data collected. Logistic linear regression models adjusted for main confounders used estimate odds ratios (ORs) 95% confidence intervals (CIs) associations. Results: A total 403 (70.2% female) aged 18 30 years participated study. Those reporting poor (OR = 1.85, CI 1.08–3.17, p 0.025) ≤6 h night-time duration 4.14, 2.00–8.57, < 0.01) more likely be at EDs analyses. association did not remain significant when we quality. In addition, an evening associated increased 1.68, 1.07–2.66, 0.039) only before adjustment confounders. Conclusions: Among students, poorer cross-sectionally EDs. Though a relationship between sexual assault and suicidal thinking is established, fewer studies explore complex coping mechanisms for these college student treatment issues. We hypothesized that the suicide ideation was mediated by binge eating concerns recent would also result in greater change thoughts. An subscale an item assessing thoughts from Collegiate Center Mental Health (CCMH) 2018–2019 data set were completed during (n = 53,016). Results supported hypotheses, revealing as significant partial mediator. Moreover, survivors, particularly men, experienced changes than clients with other presenting concerns. Findings suggest problematic strategies may increase likelihood of following assault. Practitioners should monitor students' emphasize emotional regulation to reduce suicidality. Limitations correlational methodology small effect sizes are discussed.
