Conventional methodologies often struggle in accurately positioning underwater habitats and elucidating the complex interactions between terrestrial aquatic environments. This study proposes an innovative methodology to bridge gap these domains, enabling integrated 3D mapping positioning. The method integrates UAV (Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles) photogrammetry for areas with performed by a snorkeler. aspect of proposed approach relies on detecting snorkeler positions orthorectified images as alternative use GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) positioning, thanks image processing tool. Underwater camera are estimated through precise time synchronization frames, producing georeferenced model that seamlessly joins submerged landscapes. facilitates understanding spatial context objects seabed presents cost-effective comprehensive tool coastal mapping, useful management support resilience.

Innovation is championed to enable transformation towards social-ecological resilience in coastal communities. Yet, innovation areas not well understood with limited research concerning the nature of innovations and determinants success. Analysis interviews 68 community key informants Australia's most rapidly growing communities revealed that despite high levels individual capacity (e.g., among managers service providers) good-practice policy, were scale insufficient for transformative change. All too familiar barriers included financial human capacity, a culture 'failure avoidance' government. Nevertheless, small number exemplars avoided these constraints by implementing systemic solutions addressed socio-ecological challenges built resilience. Individual such was prior crisis events consisted experience/knowledge, extensive diverse social networks, resource mobilisation skills. The findings provide further evidence critical importance investing before, during, following crisis—in other words, continually.

Adaptive governance (AG) has emerged as a theoretical alternative to traditional forms of governance, which often fail address complexity and rapid changes in socioecological systems. Frequently recognized attributes AG include learning experimentation, collaboration networks, polycentric institutions multilevel at multiple appropriate scales, well reflexivity, flexibility adaptive capacity. To provide more examples the practical implementation AG, we examine whether Finnish regional preparedness network model could be an example tangible way implement AG. According our results, networks embody many features AG: they facilitate person- organization-level networking peer learning, thus help their members grasp overall picture safety region, reveal ambiguities concerning division responsibilities. The also support nestedness polycentricity through cross-sector cooperation. At same time, voluntary nature is perceived problematic considering society. Notably, although non-state actors, citizens remain outside them, may reduce effectiveness network.

The study of war is changing. Anthropocentric approaches are increasingly being challenged, and there now many studies exploring the environmental impacts war. Although extremely important, such research can potentially reinforce human/nature binaries, by epistemologically compartmentalising separating harms done to environment from 'us.' What needed more integrated analyses examining multiple ways that affects connectivities relationalities between human more-than-human worlds. It striking, moreover, remain largely absent sociology, which has given little attention This interdisciplinary article aims address these gaps, thereby making a novel contribution scholarship foregrounding multi-layered relational dynamics through specific focus on human-bird relations – asking what does them. also make an original social-ecological systems (SES). Globally, wildfires are increasing in extent, frequency, and severity. Although global climate change is a major driver large-scale governance interventions essential, focusing on at smaller scales of great importance for fostering resilience to wildfires. Inherent tensions managing wildfire risk evident such scales, as objectives mandates may conflict, trade-offs impacts vary across ecosystems communities. Our study feeds into debates about how manage life property way that does not undermine biodiversity amenity values social-ecological systems. Here, we describe case where features adaptive emerged organically from dedicated planning process Australia. We found context specific, allows dialogue risk, benefits, trade-offs, responsibility be distributed amongst many different actors, can provide the conditions needed break down rigidity traps constrain adaptation. The enabled actors question whether default management option (in this case, prescribed burning) aligned with place-based risks so they could make an informed choice, built their participation process. Cumulative effects assessments (CEA) evolved to holistically understand and account for the impact of a spectrum human natural disturbances on ecosystems. Yet, practice CEA has struggled overcome siloed reductionist underpinnings common in assessment arena. One way move towards more integrated approaches is by drawing concept ecological resilience. Despite gaining considerable attention other academic spheres, however, resilience remains largely unexplored CEAs. Motivated this gap, objective article explore how CEAs can be reimagined through an lens cultivate holistic practices.
