Mentalization or reflective functioning (RF) is the capacity to interpret oneself others in terms of internal mental states. Its failures have been linked several disorders and interventions improving RF a therapeutic effect. Mentalizing parents influences children's attachment. The Reflective Functioning Questionnaire (RFQ-8) widely used tool for assessment RF. No instrument available assess general Spanish-speaking samples. aim this study develop Spanish version RFQ-8 evaluate its reliability validity population individuals with personality disorders.602 non-clinical 41 disordered participants completed translation RFQ battery self-reported questionnaires assessing related constructs (alexithymia, perspective taking, identity diffusion mindfulness), psychopathology (general specific) interpersonal problems. Temporal stability was tested sub-sample 113 participants.Exploratory confirmatory factor analyses suggested one-factor structure RFQ-8. understood as single scale tested, low scorings reflecting genuine mentalizing, high uncertainty. questionnaire showed good consistence both samples moderate temporal sample. correlated significantly diffusion, alexithymia, samples; mindfulness, problems clinical Mean values were higher group. This provides evidence that RFQ-8, scale, has an adequate (i.e., hypomentalization) disorders.

Basic complex recognition was assessed face photos video clips. Alexithymia, empathy, (anxiety, depressive, obsessive–compulsive ASD traits) were self-assessment questionnaires. Results exhibited basic as well increased decreased regulation when compared HCs. After controlling for symptoms, differences remained only recognition. Challenges lower body mass index, alexithymia Increased a shorter duration illness, higher Conclusions displayed widespread deficit processing, but occurred Deficits may contribute the illness severity thus could be an important treatment target. Level Evidence III, case-control analytic study.

Early intervention may significantly improve the prognosis associated with psychotic disorders in adulthood. The present study examined acceptability and effectiveness of a standalone intensive, in-home, mentalization-based treatment (MBT) for extremely high-risk, non-help-seeking youth on spectrum [Equipo Clínico de Intervención Domicilio (ECID), Home Intervention Clinical Team].Despite previously being unable to participate treatment, more than 90% engaged those demonstrated slightly higher engagement general high-risk group (95% 85%, respectively, X1 = 4.218, p 0.049). Generalized estimating equation (GEE) models revealed no main effect likelihood reengaging school over first 12 months (X1 1.015, 0.314) when controlling duration absenteeism at intake. Overall, percentage rose from 55 this period, 40% total sample experienced clinically reliable change an additional 50% appeared stable. No statistically significant difference was observed between groups average HoNOSCA severity score 0.249, 0.618) or distribution into categories clinical during year 0.068, 0.795).The findings suggest that mentalization based be able engage have meaningful impact symptom functioning after months.

Background Improvement in the capacity to mentalize (i.e., reflective functioning/RF) is considered both, an outcome variable as well a possible change mechanism psychotherapy. We explored variables related (in-session) RF patients with eating disorder (ED) treated pilot study on Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT) - oriented day hospital program. The research questions were secondary and focused psychotherapeutic process: What average does group of show sessions it over course single session? Are differences found between sections which ED symptomatology discussed those not? Does increase after MBT-type interventions? Methods 1232 interaction segments from 77 therapy 19 EDs rated for by reliable raters using In-Session Scale. Additionally, content (ED yes/no) certain MBT interventions coded. Statistical analysis was performed mixed models. Results Patients showed rather low RF, increased session. If discussed, this associated significantly lower while led significant RF. Conclusions suggest that in-session mentalizing can be stimulated MBT-typical interventions. seems more impaired when disorder-specific issues are addressed. Further studies have if improving patient´s ability their own symptoms better outcomes.
