Abstract Aim To identify and synthesize the experiences attitudes of nursing staff regarding deaths COVID‐19 patients. Review Methods A qualitative evidence synthesis was carried out, using Noblit Hare's meta‐ethnographic approach. The review protocol listed in PROSPERO (CRD42022330928). Studies published from January 2020 to 2022 that met criteria were searched PubMed, Web Science, Scopus, CINAHL, CUIDEN PsycInfo. total 12 articles included. Results Thirty‐three metaphors emerged, which grouped into three main themes: Determining factors care, Feelings about death Strategies for coping with death. Nurses reported high emotional toll, absence family lack staff, training as determining factors. Furthermore, had doubts quality care patients received. As strategies, nurses developed avoidance behaviours towards patients, selective memories, resilience, and/or leaving profession. Conclusions difficulty providing adequate number has increased anxiety stress among nurses. These factors, alongside their lived seeing suffering, many dying alone without members, have psychological repercussions on staff. Implications Profession Patient Care results demonstrate a toll surrounding caregiving role caused by professional needed face pandemic. This research shows what been learned future pandemics highlights basic components could provide foundation interventions healthcare professionals.
