Abstract Purpose To investigate the relationship between abnormal glucose metabolism, type 2 diabetes (T2D), and periodontal disease (PER) independent of Body Mass Index (BMI), we employed a genome-wide cross-trait approach to clarify association. Methods Our study utilized most extensive association studies conducted for populations European ancestry, including PER, T2D, fasting glucose, insulin, 2-hour after an oral challenge, HOMA-β, HOMA-IR (unadjusted or adjusted BMI) HbA1c. Results With this approach, were able identify pleiotropic loci, establish expression-trait associations, quantify global local genetic correlations. There was significant positive correlation T2D (r g = 0.261, p 2.65 × 10 −13 ), HbA1c 0.182, 4.14 −6 ) as well BMI 0.158, 2.34 ). A also observed PER glycemic traits T2D. We identified 62 loci that impact both traits, Nine pathways shared genes PER. Genetically liability HOMA-βadjBMI causally associated with risk Conclusion research has revealed link is influenced by biological pleiotropy. Notably, some these links are not related BMI. highlights underlying patients regardless their

Abstract Background Although chronic periodontitis has previously been reported to be linked with Alzheimer's disease (AD), the pathogenesis between two is unclear. The purpose of this study analyze and screen relevant promising molecular markers (AD). Methods In paper, we analyzed three AD expression datasets extracted differentially expressed genes (DEGs), then intersected them obtained from text mining, finally integrated DEGs. We followed that by enriching matching cell signal cascade through DAVID analysis. Moreover, MCODE Cytoscape software was employed uncover protein–protein interaction (PPI) network hub gene. Finally, verified our data using a different independent cohort. Results gene set acquired abstracting groups, 12 common were obtained. Functional enrichment assessment uncovered cross-genes, which mainly morphogenesis involved in neuron differentiation, leading edge membrane, receptor ligand activity. After PPI creation, ten retrieved, consisting SPP1, THY1, CD44, ITGB1, HSPB3, CREB1, SST, UCHL1, CCL5 BMP7. function terms new dataset used verify previous dataset, found 22 GO one pathway, "ECM-receptor pathways", overlapping functional terms. Conclusions establishment above-mentioned candidate key genes, as well enriched signaling cascades, provides for periodontitis-related AD, may help diagnosis treatment patients future.

This study explores the risk for cancer by level of antibodies to anaerobe oral bacteria periodontitis Tannerella forsythia (TF), Porphyromonas gingivalis (PG), and Treponema denticola (TD) all three collectively termed red complex, facultative bacterium Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (AA). The prospective cohort, Oslo II-study from 2000, second screening 1972/73, has been followed 17 ½ years with regard incidence mortality. A random sample 697 elderly men comprised cohort. antibody results measured enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) were used in Cox proportional hazards analyses, quartile on a follow-up. Among 621 participants no prior diagnoses, 221 developed cancer. trend was inverse, are shown as 1 st highest value 4 th lowest levels. regression analyses showed that TF inversely predicts bladder (n = 22) Hazard Ratio (HR) 1.71 (95% CI: 1.12, 2.61).
