Abstract Three‐dimensional (3‐D) printing technology (3‐DPT) also referred to as additive manufacturing (AM) has advanced rapidly and is vastly used in varying fields because of the minimization waste materials ability form complex geometrical shapes from micro‐ macroscale. Nowadays, emerged extensively engineering, architectural, medical, industrial, fields. Four‐dimensional (4‐D) (4‐DPT) synergizes 3‐DPT with stimuli‐sensitive garnered wide attention for smart fabrication. More so, 4‐DPT displayed great prospects numerous engineering applications including origami actuators, drug transport, robotics, clothing, adaptive metamaterials.
