Abstract Trichogramma spp. (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) are generalist egg parasitoids widely used as biological control agents, yet with limited efficacy against Tuta absoluta (Meyrick; Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), a key pest of tomato. Olfactory cues related to the host-plant complex influence searching behavior in parasitoids. Studies have shown that female can learn odor affecting their preference. We assessed if learning increases response tomato and whether it improves parasitism rate achaeae , evanescens, dendrolimi . Hence, capacity should be further explored its

Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) is a cosmopolitan invader and one of the most serious pests tomato. This pest has expanded rapidly in China since it initially invaded Xinjiang northwest 2017 Yunnan south early 2018.More complete knowledge migration patterns genetic structure this important for implementing effective management strategies. To fill gap, COI gene T. was sequenced based on nationwide routine monitoring. This study showed new invasion into Gansu Inner Mongolia, indicating ongoing expansion pest. Most populations absoluta, both worldwide, have high homogeneity.Nevertheless, some degree variability found southern China, especially Yunnan. Two distinct haplogroups were distinguished, clade A predominant at global level. The level sequence divergence indicated possible existence cryptic species.Furthermore, F ST analysis molecular variance (AMOVA) revealed weak but significant differentiation between northwestern group group/subgroups provides compelling evidence different dispersal avenues China.T. likely established bridgehead then spread throughout province neighboring territories China.Knowledge regarding diversity, population pattern valuable improving guidelines pest.Strict plant quarantines, local eradication practical control measures are needed to solve problem caused by absoluta.

The tomato leaf miner Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) is one of the world's most destructive pests tomato, and because its severe economic impacts, as well development pesticide resistance, species has been intensively studied, especially in regard to identification targets for T. control. However, functional genomic studies have constrained by a lack effective genetic tools. Therefore, aim present study was develop CRISPR/Cas9 zygote microinjection protocol generating heritable mutations absoluta, using ommochrome synthesis gene cinnabar an easily evaluated target gene. injection fertilised eggs with Cas9 protein four sgRNAs, which targeted exon 3, resulted mutagenesis rate 31.9% reaching adulthood, either red or mosaic eye colour phenotypes. As such, this first report complete detailed workflow efficient genome editing globally important invasive pest absoluta. application robust genome-editing tool will greatly facilitate discovery suitable RNAi control subsequent novel strategies.

Abstract The Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) originated in South America and is a major pest of the economically critical solanaceous crops. It devastating to tomatoes, attacking mainly leaves, stems, flowers fruits tomato plants, can cause up 100% damage. T. invaded China 2017 expanded rapidly, severely impacting industry. To illustrate detailed potential distribution China, we used CLIMEX MaxEnt models predict this using historical future climate data. predicts wider area for than MaxEnt, which suggests that most suitable its distribution, except Tarim Basin southern Xinjiang, western Inner Mongolia northwestern Gansu. Both accurately predicted known provinces Yunnan Guangxi, predictions by both suggest total range increase slightly with changes temperature. These will help understand influence change on thus provide theoretical foundation developing early monitoring, quarantine control strategies.
