Patients who are anxious or depressed after an acute cardiac event at increased risk of a subsequent and premature death. It is therefore important to identify these patients early in order initiate supportive even preventive measures. In the present study, we report on prevalence anxiety depression during first 12 months event, patient characteristics predictive late convalescence. We recruited sample 911 with myocardial infarction (AMI), coronary syndrome (ACS), and/or unstable angina (UA), undergoing artery bypass graft surgery (CABGS). completed Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale (HADS) close time their again (2-4 post-event) (6-12 convalescence. Using HADS-A HADS-D cut-offs 8+, rates for anxiety, depression, comorbid were determined each timepoint. Chi-square tests odds ratios used baseline associated over months.Anxiety 43, 28, 27% early, 22, 17, 15%, respectively. Factors consistently history financial strain, poor self-rated health, low socioeconomic status, younger age (<55 years), smoking. Obesity, diabetes, social isolation (living alone being unpartnered) identified as albeit less significant factors. Neither sex nor type depression. This large provided opportunity key risk. Introduction Distress is experienced by the majority of cardiac patients, yet no cardiac-specific measure distress exists. The aim this project to develop and validate Cardiac Inventory (CDI). Using CDI, health professionals will be able identify key clusters psychological, emotional social concern address with postcardiac event. Methods analysis An item pool generated through: identification items a multidisciplinary group clinician researchers; review generic condition-specific measures; focus testing rehabilitation professionals; feedback from patients. COSMIN (COnsensus-based Standards for selection Measurement INstruments) criteria used inform development methodology determining CDI’s psychometric properties. tested 400 patients responses subjected exploratory factor analysis, Rasch construct validity latent class analysis. Receiver operating characteristic optimal CDI cut-off score distinguishing whether person experiences clinically significant distress.
