Abstract Background Although compelling evidences suggest that cortical spreading depression and the trigeminovascular system activation are main mechanisms underlying migraigenesis, it remains “a nearly complete mystery of how migraine starts”. Abstract The Hindbrain Choroid Plexus is a complex, cerebrospinal fluid-secreting tissue that projects into the 4th vertebrate brain ventricle. Despite its irreplaceability in development and homeostasis of entire central nervous system, research other Plexuses has been neglected by neuroscientists for decades. One obstacles lack tools describe complex shape context ventricles. Here we introduce an effective tool, termed Ch O P-CT, noninvasive, X-ray micro-computed tomography-based, three-dimensional visualization subsequent quantitative spatial morphological analysis developing mouse Plexus. P-CT can reliably quantify volume, surface area, length, outgrowth angle, proportion ventricular space occupied, asymmetries general alterations embryos from embryonic day 13.5 onwards. We provide evidence suitable unbiased evaluation detection within various mutant embryos. believe, thanks to versatility, nature possibility automation, will facilitate models. This ultimately accelerate screening candidate genes mechanisms involved onset Plexus-related diseases.

The anatomical terms plexus chor(i)oideus (CP) and tela chor(i)oidea (TC) are listed without explanations in the official nomenclature handbooks Terminologia Neuroanatomica Nomina Anatomica Veterinaria. Definitions of CP TC exhibit discrepancies medical dictionaries anatomy handbooks. aim our study was to analyse this problem detail discuss a possible unified use science teaching. We conducted systematic literature review based on Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses, identifying analysing relevant scholarly articles. Additionally, comprehensive original human veterinary English other European languages were examined. definitions differed considerably between articles did not match most frequently given In general use, it seems have become accepted that represents smooth, thin part roof third fourth ventricles, frond- or fringe-like vascularised structures invaginated into lateral, ventricles. However, is controversial which tissue layers should be included their description. Etymologically, only vascular network termed (choroid) plexus, but embryologically functionally, epithelium, pial connective form an inseparable entity. Similarly, smooth ventricle consists (less) pia-derived stroma lining epithelium. Including all these as well definition might advisable also corresponds clinical context.
