aquaculture.
Due
to
their
small
size,
they
suitable
for
newly
hatched
larvae.
Artemia
rotifer
commonly
used
live
feeds
aquaculture;
each
feed
has
a
limited
dietary
value,
which
is
unsuitable
all
cultured
species.
Whereas,
copepod
cladocerans
species
exhibit
favorable
characteristics
that
make
them
viable
candidates
of
nutrients
hatchery
operations.

Abstract
The
settlement
phase
is
a
challenging
period
for
meropelagic
octopus,
as
they
adapt
to
their
new
life
in
the
sea
bottom
after
planktonic
period.
Their
ecology
and
trophic
interactions
with
surrounding
fauna
wild
are
practically
unknown.
To
understand
predatory
role
littoral
zone,
diet
of
recently
settled
Octopus
vulgaris
from
Mediterranean
sandy
was
studied
through
molecular
methods.
Amphipods
were
present
all
analysed
stomach
contents,
total
20
amphipod
taxa
recorded
prey.
Jassa
slatteryi
Microprotopus
maculatu
s
most
commonly
found
species.
Hydrozoans,
decapod
crustaceans,
cephalopods
bivalves
followed
amphipods
importance.
Niche
breadth
index
assigned
small
octopus
specialised
predator,
increasing
diversity
prey
grow.
Larger
juveniles
displayed
higher
number
suggesting
decreasing
specialisation
size
an
ontogenetic
shift
mainly
based
on
richer
diet.
