Using the lattice dynamics approach, we discussed propagation of interfacial waves localized near interface in an infinite square lattice. The has been modeled as a single-particle layer material particles with masses and elastic bonds different from those bulk. In this structure there were anti-plane waves, i.e., that decayed exponentially distance interface. Such could be useful for determining properties vicinity We obtained equations motion analyzed corresponding dispersion relations steady-state solutions. Here, equation related circular frequency to wave number. addition, provided comparison derived within Gurtin-Murdoch surface elasticity. To do this, have used scaling law links continuum discrete models. Unlike model, model number was limited by first Brillouin zone, whereas it took range zero infinity. detailed parametric analysis given model. Finally, other models interfaces case discussed.

In this study, the dynamic characteristics of a cantilevered Mindlin plate, partially or totally in contact with fluid on both sides, are examined using proposed hybrid isogeometric finite element – boundary framework. The interaction problem is divided into two parts through implementation linear hydroelasticity theory, allowing for independent treatment structural and problems. part analysis, thick plate modeled as first-order shear deformable by adopting Reissner–Mindlin material assumed to be homogeneous isotropic. resulting eigenvalue then solved method (IGAFEM). second assuming ideal incorporating vacuo conditions, fluid-structure effects determined (IGABEM) terms generalized added mass coefficients. Subsequently, parametric studies various thicknesses submergence depths conducted. analysis reveals that wet natural frequencies differ noticeably from their counterparts due presence free surface fluid. addition, effect radiated waves vibrating structure included mathematical model imposing linearized condition, frequency-dependent hydrodynamic damping numerical accuracy approach verified against commercial software ANSYS, showing favourable agreement predicted corresponding mode shapes.

The present study utilises the extended finite element method (XFEM) to model fibre-reinforced composites, with a focus on crack initiation and propagation. Silicon nitride-based ceramics were selected as material; they represent broad class of short fibre have received lot attention in recent decades. Some peculiarities when using XFEM, including its modifications, are discussed response applied external stresses, mainly viscoelastic range. Promising approaches recommended, which lead more accurate description these materials under operating conditions, focusing correct calculation macroscopic stress ahead propagating front. authors draw years experience material investigate possible improvements modifications XFEM.

An inextensible 1D continuum whose deformation energy purely depends on the gradient of associated curvature is introduced to describe behavior Zigzagged Articulated Parallelograms with Braces truss structures (ZAPAB structures) after homogenization. We choose a particular ZAPAB structure in which all but one constituting bars basic module do not change their length under applied loads. This judicious choice allows us verify, through numerical simulations, that corresponding indeed has solely derivative curvature. Thus, by employing best-fitting approach based least squares method, we numerically identify best stiffness coefficient (in squared sense) contribution due curvature, termed as double-bending stiffness. The presented simulations consider case uniformly distributed dead loads, and reveal strong match between current configurations proposed model, obtained Finite Element Method, (for selected number modules), discrete approach, curves coinciding up certain intrinsic error. These results require development an analytical micro–macro identification procedure. facilitate advances synthesis tailored materials n -th theory. adopt theory-driven expectation devising exotic behaviors.
