Wild food plants of Bhil and Bhilala ethnic community of Western Madhya Pradesh, India – an implication for food security

The present study documents the wild edible plants commonly used by Bhil and Bhilala tribes in Western Madhya Pradesh, India. Through ethnobotanical field research, traditional knowledge of these regarding was assessed using semi-structured questionnaires participatory rural appraisal approach. Quantitative indices, including Cultural Importance index (CI), Preference ranking, Fidelity level (FL), were employed to analyze data. identified 109 plant species from 93 genera 54 families, with trees herbs (40 each) being most used, followed climbers (17) shrubs (12). Forty-six had a fidelity 100%, while CI values ranged 0.18 0.78. Among species, 62 (56.88%) significant market value, contributing income generation for local communities. consumption edibles plays crucial role diet, especially during food scarcity periods. However, increased exploitation certain poses threat biodiversity. highlights need sustainable harvesting ensure their conservation continued contribution diets income.

An ethnobotanical investigation of medicinal plants used among rural communities in Northeastern Madhya Pradesh, India: a quantitative study

The present study aims to document and analyze information related significant ethnomedicinal plants in rural communities of Northeastern Madhya Pradesh, India. Data collection involved the use open-ended semi-structured questionnaires gather on plant usage, including specific plants, applications, traditional healing practices. Quantitative indices such as Relative frequency citation (RFC), Use value (UV), Family (FUV), Informant consensus factor (ICF), Jaccard's coefficient similarity (JCS) were employed quantify gathered information. A total 201 medicinal belonging 170 genera 76 families, recorded for treating various diseases, with trees (43%), herbs (33%), climbers (13%) being predominantly used. Plants Hedychium coronarium Cordia macleodii exhibited high RFC UV, particularly eye blood pressure problems. Vanda tessellata showed a informant ear-related Positive correlations found between UV (0.631) FUV (0.159). highlights prevalence practices using area. Phenotypic characterization of distinct indigenous goats from Vindhyan region of Eastern Uttar Pradesh

The present study was aimed to the morphologic, morphometric, production and reproductive traits of unexplored native goats from Vindhyan region Eastern Uttar Pradesh. data 308 male 590 female were collected 45 villages 449 farmers. are managed under an extensive zero input system by poor marginal farmers for their livelihood security since time immemorial. These small sized, black or brown coloured, primarily raised meat production. Head is straight slightly convex, ears flat, leafy pendulous, tail bunchy curved upward. Muzzle, eyelids hooves predominantly horns spiral with upward-backward-outward orientation. average adult body weight 31.34±0.38 kg in males 28.78±0.12 females. means (cm) length, height at withers chest girth 66.41±0.34, 72.65±0.42 77.77±0.58, respectively, 65.08±0.14, 69.22±0.24 74.35±0.16, seasonal breeder major breeding season May July bred through natural service. Age first estrus ~9 months age kidding ~15 months. Twinning common second parity onwards. Milk found be very low. morphological appearance morphometric measurement indicate that these indigenous phenotypically distinct other adjoining area can registered as unique breed better genetic management.
