Neurodegenerative diseases have reached alarming numbers in the past decade. Unfortunately, clinical trials testing potential therapeutics proven futile. In absence of disease-modifying therapies, physical activity has emerged as single most accessible lifestyle modification with to fight off cognitive decline and neurodegeneration. this review, we discuss findings from epidemiological, clinical, molecular studies investigating modifications promoting brain health. We propose an evidence-based multidomain approach that includes activity, diet, training, sleep hygiene treat prevent neurodegenerative diseases.

Background Recent scientific interest has focused on exploring the potential relationships between fatigue, respiratory function and balance in multiple sclerosis (MS) subjects. While some studies suggest that fatigue may impact postural stability, exact nature of these associations remains under investigation. Ultrasound imaging is increasingly being used to examine structural functional characteristics core muscles, aiming better understand how variables might be interconnected. Understanding crucial for developing targeted interventions enhance overall physical performance this population. This study examines relationship function, balance, ultrasound abdominal musculature MS. Methods A cross-sectional was conducted involving 27 subjects diagnosed with MS, comprising 17 females 10 males. Study were: (Modified Fatigue Impact Scale—MFIS); (Forced Vital Capacity—FVC Forced Expiratory Volume first second—FEV1); (Berg Balance Scale—BBS Trunk Impairment Scale Dynamic—TIS DYN); measurements diaphragmatic musculature. Correlations were analyzed using Spearman’s correlation, a statistical significance level p < 0.05. Results Significant correlations found scores. FVC showed moderate correlation BBS ( r = 0.443), while FEV1 had high 0.500) TIS DYN 0.427). MFIS negative −0.402). The strength central musculature, particularly internal oblique, trunk stability control. Conclusion These findings highlight interplay muscle morphology emphasizing benefits targeting improve reduce ultimately enhancing quality life

Background: The prognosis of people with multiple sclerosis (MS) has improved substantially in recent decades due to advances diagnosis and treatment. Due the unpredictable course heterogenous treatment response MS, there is a clear need for biomarkers that reflect disease activity clinical follow-up these patients. We conducted systematic review Bayesian network meta-analysis aim analyzing effects physical exercise on neurofilaments (NfL) glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) levels patients MS. Methods: A was following Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, starting PICO (patient/population, intervention, comparison, outcome) question: what are (with independence type) NfL and/or GFAP MS compared other interventions or no intervention whatsoever? systematically comprehensive literature search from January March 2024 identify original studies answered question, using main data sources. quality included assessed Quality Index Downs & Black. For followed randomized controlled trial (RCT) design, methodological each paper Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) Scale. Risk bias also explored by two independent reviewers. Finally, all articles were classified according evidence grades recommendation established Oxford Center Evidence-Based Medicine. continuous outcome measures enough comparisons greater than equal good PEDro scale, (NMA) applied. statistical analyses performed R (version 4.1.3, Core Team 2023) “BUGSnet” “gemtc” packages. NMA can be used obtain posterior probability distribution relative effects, which allows us quantify uncertainty parameter estimates rank treatments network. Results: Eight this six NMA, they appraised quality. characteristics studies, types training described protocols, quality, risk bias, studied outlined. Qualitative synthesis, different modalities selection final model assessment, ranking shown. Conclusions: Our findings indicated moderate-intensity more likely reduce concentration high-intensity exercise, and, turn, low-intensity exercise. However, inconclusive.

Background: Today, living well with multiple sclerosis (MS) is often measured by a person's overall quality of life rather than being limited to the more traditional metrics reduced frequency relapses or progression disability. This change in focus, holistic view health, such as life, has shifted views what both providers and people essential for MS. Purpose: narrative review aims examine relevant literature on existing emerging non-pharmacological interventions shown improve across all health domains. Methods: A search was conducted MEDLINE, CINAHL, Scopus electronic databases using following terms: health-related quality, satisfaction, intervention, non-drug, intervention. After screening abstracts, 24 were selected this review. Results: Common used fatigue sleep, mental emotional cognition, physical chronic pain. Several included positively improved sclerosis. These exercise, cognitive behavior therapy, rehabilitation. Conclusion: Non-pharmacological exercise behavioral therapy should be prescribed during routine medical care. Translating research into standard clinical practice one area focus. In addition, higher studies, randomized control trials, need nonpharmacological assess effectiveness. Abstract Background Physical fatigue is one of the most disabling symptoms in people with Multiple Sclerosis (PwMS). Several factors might influence development fatigue, such as gender, education, body mass index (BMI), Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS), disease duration, working status (Ws), physiotherapy (Ph), and disease-modifying therapies (DMTs). Fatigue Symptoms Impacts Questionnaire-Relapsing (FSIQ-RMS) a patient-reported outcome (PRO) that allows to define impact PwMS clearly. This study aimed assess on by using FSIQ-RMS. Methods The participants were enrolled from May July 2021 MS Centers Sant’Andrea Hospital Policlinico Umberto I Rome. was evaluated FSIQ-RMS, validated, culturally adapted Italian. Clinical demographic data collected at same time. Results We 178 [Female 74.16%; RMS 82.58%, SPMS 17.52%]. FSIQ-RMS scores significantly correlated EDSS (p-value < 0.01). Analysis variance between means showed statistically significant difference BMI groups 24hours_FSIQ-RMS score 7days_FSIQ-RMS ( p 0.01), lower group having highest scores. Furthermore, perceived improved both subjects performing Ph 0.05) those who actively work Conclusions use real-world setting confirmed underweight high levels disability are closely related fatigue. In addition, active Ws strongly PwMS.
