To investigate the associations between dynapenic obesity and risk of dementia, modifying effects age, sex, APOE gene, using a large population-based cohort. 279,884 participants aged 55 above from UK Biobank were included. The classified into four categories based on body mass index hand grip strength: healthy, obesity, dynapenia, obesity. incident dementia was identified linked hospital records death register data. Cox proportional hazards regression models used to estimate associations, followed by age-, sex-, apolipoprotein E (APOE) gene-stratified analyses. During median follow-up 12.4 years, 5,170 (1.8%) developed dementia. Compared with healthy group, had 67% higher (hazard ratio [HR]: 1.67, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.44–1.94). risks in respectively observed male (HR: 2.03, CI: 1.65–2.50), younger (<65 HR: 1.97, 1.55–2.50), non-ε4-carrier 1.60–2.44) (all P for interaction <0.05). In under 65 years non-ε4-carrier, those highest 2.63, 1.91–3.62), compared group (P second order = 0.026). Dynapenic is associated increased especially suggesting importance managing prevention cognition-related disorders.

Abstract Purpose Sarcopenia is the presence of low skeletal muscle quantity or quality. It associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Aortic arch calcification (AAC) a type vascular that can be easily detected using chest X-rays. AAC sarcopenia share common risk factors such as aging, inflammation, diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease. In this study, we investigated relationship between to evaluate whether X-rays used predict in daily clinical practice. Methods was assessed via simple X-ray. evaluated computed tomography imaging, which allows for calculation mass area (SMA) index (SMI). Correlation analysis multivariable models were assess sarcopenia. Results A total 340 patients included study (122 AAC, 218 without AAC). more frequent than those (38.5% vs 16.5%, p < 0.001). SMI also negatively correlated severity (r: -0.246, model, independently related age, glomerular filtration rate, [(OR = 1.077, 95% CI 1.034–1.120, 0.001), (OR 0.985, 0.975–0.996, 0.008), 1.812, 1.030–3.188, 0.03), respectively)]. Conclusion by might population.

Seizures are a frequent neurological consequence following liver transplantation (LT), however, research on their clinical impact and risk factors is lacking. Using nested case-control design, patients diagnosed with seizures (seizure group) within 1-year post-transplantation were matched to controls who had not experienced until the corresponding time points at 1:5 ratio perform survival factor analyses. developed in 61 of 1,243 (4.9%) median 11 days after LT. Five-year graft was significantly lower seizure group than (50.6% vs. 78.2%, respectively, p < 0.001) significant for loss adjusting variables (HR 2.04, 95% CI 1.24–3.33). In multivariable logistic regression, body mass index <23 kg/m 2 , donor age ≥45 years, intraoperative continuous renal replacement therapy delta sodium level ≥4 mmol/L emerged as independent post-LT seizure. Delta associated seizures, regardless severity preoperative hyponatremia. Identifying controlling those required prevent which could result worse outcome.

Abstract Objective Sarcopenia is a geriatric syndrome that occurs with age and characterized by gradual decline in muscle mass, power, functionality. It serves as prominent contributor to frailty, disability, mortality among older individuals. Currently, no standardized global guidelines exist for the diagnosis of sarcopenia. This study aimed establish correlation between sarcopenia constitutions traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), considering connection physical functioning Methods A total 1441 participants this were diagnosed The Asian Working Group (AWGS) proposed definition algorithm. To determine constitution each participant, classification determination standards used medicine. evaluated demographics, lifestyles, self‐reported medical history individuals through self‐administered questionnaire. was determined using TCM standards. Subsequently, we analyzed results univariate analysis multivariate regression constructed receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results Participants who had substantially lower original Neutral scores ( P < 0.050). In comparison those without sarcopenia, exhibited notably elevated Qi‐deficiency, Yang‐deficiency, Yin‐deficiency, Blood‐stagnation, Qi‐stagnation contrast healthy group identified risk factors associated included following: (OR = 0.903), Qi‐deficiency (in males, OR 1.126), Yang‐deficiency 1.062), Phlegm‐dampness 0.833), Blood‐stagnation females, 1.089). highest area under curve (AUC) observed neutral score, followed blood‐stagnation (0.644, 0.613, 0.611, respectively). Additionally, AUC combined all nine males reached 0.778. Conclusions cross‐sectional people higher Yin deficiency, Notably, various are significantly linked There significant occurrence body types mixture good diagnostic performance males.
