Stroke is the leading cause of death in middle-aged and elderly people China. Insulin resistance (IR) sarcopenia are both closely associated with metabolic diseases. However, relationship between these two indicators stroke has not been fully investigated. The aim this study was to investigate IR risk new-onset stroke.

Seizures are a frequent neurological consequence following liver transplantation (LT), however, research on their clinical impact and risk factors is lacking. Using nested case-control design, patients diagnosed with seizures (seizure group) within 1-year post-transplantation were matched to controls who had not experienced until the corresponding time points at 1:5 ratio perform survival factor analyses. developed in 61 of 1,243 (4.9%) median 11 days after LT. Five-year graft was significantly lower seizure group than (50.6% vs. 78.2%, respectively, p < 0.001) significant for loss adjusting variables (HR 2.04, 95% CI 1.24–3.33). In multivariable logistic regression, body mass index <23 kg/m 2 , donor age ≥45 years, intraoperative continuous renal replacement therapy delta sodium level ≥4 mmol/L emerged as independent post-LT seizure. Delta associated seizures, regardless severity preoperative hyponatremia. Identifying controlling those required prevent which could result worse outcome.

Abstract Objective Sarcopenia is a geriatric syndrome that occurs with age and characterized by gradual decline in muscle mass, power, functionality. It serves as prominent contributor to frailty, disability, mortality among older individuals. Currently, no standardized global guidelines exist for the diagnosis of sarcopenia. This study aimed establish correlation between sarcopenia constitutions traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), considering connection physical functioning Methods A total 1441 participants this were diagnosed The Asian Working Group (AWGS) proposed definition algorithm. To determine constitution each participant, classification determination standards used medicine. evaluated demographics, lifestyles, self‐reported medical history individuals through self‐administered questionnaire. was determined using TCM standards. Subsequently, we analyzed results univariate analysis multivariate regression constructed receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results Participants who had substantially lower original Neutral scores ( P < 0.050). In comparison those without sarcopenia, exhibited notably elevated Qi‐deficiency, Yang‐deficiency, Yin‐deficiency, Blood‐stagnation, Qi‐stagnation contrast healthy group identified risk factors associated included following: (OR = 0.903), Qi‐deficiency (in males, OR 1.126), Yang‐deficiency 1.062), Phlegm‐dampness 0.833), Blood‐stagnation females, 1.089). highest area under curve (AUC) observed neutral score, followed blood‐stagnation (0.644, 0.613, 0.611, respectively). Additionally, AUC combined all nine males reached 0.778. Conclusions cross‐sectional people higher Yin deficiency, Notably, various are significantly linked There significant occurrence body types mixture good diagnostic performance males.

Recently, interest in sarcopenia has been increasing patients with various neurological diseases. Thus, we investigated the presence of episodic migraine (EM) based on temporal muscle thickness (TMT). This was a retrospectively observational study following STROBE guidelines. We enrolled EM and healthy controls. Both groups underwent brain magnetic resonance imaging, including three-dimensional T1-weighted imaging. calculated TMT using which is marker for sarcopenia. compared between controls, analyzed it according to aura. 82 53 not different controls (10.804 ± 2.045 mm vs 10.721 1.547 P = .801). Furthermore, aura (10.994 2.016 10.716 2.071 those without, .569). There were no correlations clinical characteristics EM, age, age onset, duration migraine, headache intensity, frequency. found statistical difference or without These findings suggest that there evidence EM.
