Psychosocial factors influence the development, exacerbation, or aggravation of some oral diseases. However, possible relationship between personality traits, affective disorders, and psychological stress in diseases, their impact on health-related quality life (OHRQoL), has not been fully clarified. The aim present study was to determine association neuroticism with presence lichen planus (OLP), discover whether these OHRQoL. This is a case-control matched for age sex. case group (OLP group) composed 20 patients diagnosed OLP, while people diagnosis lesions associated formed control group. Three instruments were used: Holmes–Rahe Social Readjustment Scale, Five Factor Personality Model, OHIP-49. Neuroticism obtained score 25.5 (±5.4) OLP group, which higher than value (21.7) (±5.1) (p = 0.03). showed worse < 0.05); most affected dimensions discomfort physical disability. Introduction: Scabies is a pruritic skin infestation with globally increasing prevalance. Sleep problems, dispaired social and personal interactions, mainly due to itching, have been reported. Objectives: We aimed determine the influence of scabies on quality life psychosocial health using Dermatology Quality Life Index (DQOL) Depression Anxiety Stress-42 (DASS-42) Scale analyse whether there correlation between two scales any sociodemographic clinical characteristics. Methods: patients (>16 years) who presented our Outpatient Clinics were enrolled. Age, gender, occupation, marital status education level features recorded. DQOL DASS-42 used. Possible demographic characteristics total scores analysed. The Spearman coefficient analysis was performed these scores. Results: Of 92 (mean age:37.76±15.355, Female/Male: 1.09/1) 63% married 35.9% high-school graduates; 27.2% 23.9% housewives officer-proffesionals. Disease generalized in 57.6% duration disease mostly <4 weeks. Mean 13,16±7,638 42.10±30.644, respectively. Symptoms/feelings affected predominantly. ‘severely’ 41.3% patients. Conclusions: Impairment significant predictive parameter for higher DASS levels. not only associated impairment but may also lead problems. Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) is an area of interdisciplinary research exploring the complex interactions within immuno-neuro-endocrine system in response to psychosocial influences. Such influences can trigger neurological changes, leading immunological effects related emergence and course various diseases. This concise clinical review explores role PNI oral medicine three exemplary models disease: periodontitis, herpes labialis, lichen planus. Previous literature has shown that stress exacerbations these diseases poorer overall health. The presumed biological mechanisms affect activity axes, i.e. hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis sympathetic nervous (SNS), subsequent immune dysregulation. Although remain poorly understood, several reduction interventions have already yielded promising results. In future work, elucidation pathways networks will require carefully designed studies with sensitive methodology, e.g. integrative single-case design. A biopsychosocial approach potential move disease from simple connections rooted empirical dualism reductionism establishment network-based models. The relationship between psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) and oral health has recently garnered increasing attention due to the intricate interaction among psychological factors, nervous system, immune responses, diseases. This comprehensive review aims elucidate multifaceted connections PNI various conditions conduct an in-depth analysis. Psychological such as stress, anxiety, depression, have been linked microbiome alterations function development progression of diseases, periodontal disorders, ulcers, temporomandibular disorders. Conversely, conditions, particularly chronic periodontitis, associated with systemic inflammation, affecting mental overall well-being through neuroendocrine-immune pathways. Moreover, neural mechanisms, including brain-gut axis autonomic significantly influenced modulation inflammatory responses. Understanding these complex interactions implications for therapeutic interventions that target both outcomes. synthesizes current research findings from disciplines, immunology, neuroscience, dentistry, psychology, offer a understanding bidirectional on treatment strategies, preventive measures, interdisciplinary approaches underscore need integrated healthcare models address aspects improve outcomes quality life in patients.

Abstract Objective The present study evaluated the oral tissue expression of micro‐RNA (miRNAs) linked to potential malignant evolution lichen planus (OLP). Furthermore, correlation between OLP severity and miRNAs was assessed, possible predictors in patients were identified. Methods enrolled 41 with (median age 58 years) 42 healthy controls 59 years). In each patient, miRNA levels (miR‐7a‐3p,‐7a2‐3p,‐7a‐5p,‐21‐3p,‐21‐5p,‐100‐3p,‐100‐5p,‐125b‐2‐3p,‐125b‐5p,‐200b‐3p,‐200b‐5p) assessed analyzed through reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Clinical parameters eventual presence symptoms, signs, disease scores patient reported using an anamnestic questionnaire. Results comparison controls, showed significantly higher miR‐7a‐3p,‐7a‐2‐3p,‐21‐3p, miR‐21‐5p miR‐100‐5p ( p < 0.05) lower miR‐125b‐2‐3p,‐125b‐5p,‐200b‐3p, ‐200b‐5p 0.05). symptoms signs correlated also all Conclusions subjects, exhibited unbalanced risk OLP. some extent significant scores.

Objectives Epidemiological data of oral mucosal lesions (OMLs) are required to develop practical care policies. However, limited available for rural areas in China. We aimed estimate the spectrum and frequency OMLs identify their associated socioeconomic status (SES) systemic health a remote area Yunnan, Methods screened patients an medicine clinic China, from August 2020 February 2021. were documented. SES, including highest education level achieved previous month's household income, as well patient's health, history smoking, alcohol use, chronic disease, obtained Medical History/Health Questionnaire Form patient medical records. Results A total 146 found have OMLs. The most frequent OML was aphthous ulcer ( n = 41, 28.1%), followed by burning mouth syndrome (BMS) 16, 11.0%), viral 14, 9.6%), lichen planus (OLP) 9, 6.2%). In these patients, common diseases sleep apnea 35, 24.0%), hypertension 23, 15.8%), bronchitis reflux (including gastroesophageal disease) 12, 8.2%), arthritis 11, 7.5%). On adjusted regression, without had lower risk BMS than those with [odds ratio (OR), 0.2; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.03–0.9]. Age independent protective factor ulcers (OR, 1.0; CI, 0.9–1.0). Patients low-income levels OLP high-income 0.05–0.9). Conclusions Our showed ulcer, which BMS, OLP. Oral policies should be prioritized among ulcer. Preventive strategy targeted people disease equalities. Therefore, individualized interventions might optimal, based on specific epidemiologic characteristics settings.
