Addressing
the
critical
environmental
challenge

Abstract
This
study
investigated
the
impacts
of
a
design-based
professional
development
(DBPD)
training
program
on
English
language
teacher
educators'
(ELTEs’)
integration
Google
Apps
into
course
instruction
at
Jimma
College
Teacher
Education,
Ethiopia.
Using
mixed-method
case
design,
examined
ELTEs'
pre-training
digital
literacy
gaps,
post-training
improvements
both
ELTEs
and
candidates
(ELTCs)
challenges
encountered
during
implementation.
Nine
class
third-year
ELTCs
were
purposefully
selected,
data
gathered
through
questionnaires,
interviews,
observations,
focus
group
discussions
administered
to
TEs.
Findings
from
phase
revealed
limited
confidence
among
ELTEs,
coupled
with
minimal
prior
exposure
targeted
educational
technologies.
In
post-training,
however,
demonstrated
substantial
in
technological
proficiency,
confidence,
adoption

student-centred
teaching
approaches.
