The Break4Brain project aims to elucidate the effects of both acute and chronic physical activity (PA) on educational achievement in children with without Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This study will be conducted two phases: a cross-over design followed by hybrid type 1 implementation-effectiveness trial, which includes cluster randomized controlled trial (RCT) qualitative study. In phase I, 60 aged 10-12, 30 each from ADHD non-ADHD groups, participate laboratory-based over 4 days within month. They three counterbalanced experimental conditions: (i) PA cognitive engagement, (ii) (iii) cognitively engaging control. assess changes brain function, academic performance, working memory, inhibitory control, sustained attention. Phase II involve 600 randomly assigned either video-based program or control group (300 per group) an 8-week RCT. also incorporate approach explore implementation context through pre- post-intervention semi-structured interviews teachers school staff, questionnaires for students. outcomes interest this include flexibility, selective attention, performance. For study, we hypothesize that conditions enhance studied compared condition. RCT, anticipate active breaks result significant improvements selected group. is expected make pioneering contributions including novel variables focusing population. Furthermore, if RCT proves effective, it could offer practical cost-effective resource integrating into daily routines.
