Abstract Soils are usually the interface between human activity and environmental components that must be conserved protected. As a result of rising industrialization urbanization, activities such as exploration extraction operations lead to release heavy metals into environment. This study presents distribution six (As, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb Zn) in 139 top soil samples collected around oil natural gas drilling sites at sampling density 1 site/12 km 2 . The results indicated concentration ranged from 0.1 16 mg/kg for As, 3–707 7–2324 14–234 9–1664 Pb, 60–962 Zn. contamination was estimated on basis Index geo accumulation (I ), enrichment factor (E f (C ). Further, spatial pattern maps pollution levels Zn, Ni were higher area relative other regions. Using exposure factors local population references USEPA’s integrated database, potential ecological risk indices (PERI) health assessments made. hazard index (HI) values (in adults) children) exceeded recommended limit HI = 1, indicating non-carcinogenic risks. Total carcinogenic (TCR) calculations revealed Cr soils threshold value 1.0E − 04, significant due high metal concentrations area. These may assist determining soil’s present state its effect strategies used during process initiate few remedial techniques, particularly proper management farming decrease point non-point source contamination.

Abstract The rise of emerging pollutants in the environment as a result economic growth poses worldwide challenge for management environmental and human health. objective this study was to assess presence potentially toxic elements (PTEs) agricultural soil southwest Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, evaluate potential health risks associated with these elements. Soil samples were collected from 31 farms, concentrations As, Pb, Cu, Ni, Zn, Fe analyzed using inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry. Various contamination risk indices, along multivariate analyses, employed evaluation. mean PTEs (mg/kg) followed order: (15,556) > Zn (53.36) Ni (21.78) Cu (11.92) Pb (10.42) As (2.64). average PTE found be lower than background levels world-soil average. Contamination indices indicated that studied moderately enriched contaminated slightly not Pb. This suggests do pose significant threat, although some individual exhibited enrichment Multivariate analyses suggested geogenic source PTEs, contribution anthropogenic factors hazard index values ranged 0.000293 (Zn) 0.030561 (Fe) adults 0.002726541 0.284670158 children, indicating no non-carcinogenic population area. Additionally, Lifetime Cancer Risk children 6.94 × 10 −6 6.46 −5 7.13 −8 6.65 −7 suggesting acceptable or tolerable carcinogenic hazards.

Pollution is one of the most important issues currently affecting global population and environment. Therefore, determining zones where stringent measures should be taken necessary. In this study, Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Factor (FA), t-distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (t-SNE) were utilized for dimensionality reduction clustering data series containing concentration 10 heavy metals collected at 14 locations. The Hazard Quotient (HQ) Index (HI) to determine non-carcinogenic risk in studied zones. highest concentrations samples those Fe, Zn, Mn, Cr. PCA indicated that Fe Zn (Co Cd) had contribution on first (second) (PC). FA showed three-factor model adequate explaining variability pollutant concentrations. factor loadings revealed strength association between variables factors, e.g., 0.97 0.83 Cr, 0.99 Co. HQ ingestion, HQing, was (between 6.10 × 10−5 2.57 10−4). inhalation, HQinh, biggest Mn (from 1.41 10−3 1.95 10−3). HI varied interval [0.172, 0.573], indicating absence a risk. However, since values above 0.5 determined four sites, continuous monitoring pollution sampling locations

Heavy metal soil contamination is a global environmental issue that poses serious threats to human health, agricultural advancement, and ecosystem systems. Thirty-five samples from various parts of Jazan, Southwest Saudi Arabia, were collected. To create spatial pattern maps for nine potentially toxic elements (PTEs) (As, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Ni, Pb, V, Zn), Ordinary Kriging (OK) was utilized. The variability the concentration estimated using multivariate analysis, including principal component analysis (PCA) cluster analysis. In addition, levels in research area assessed contaminations indices, namely, Enrichment Factor (EF), Contamination (CF), geoaccumulation index (Igeo), modified degree (mCd). Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) land use/land cover (LULC) evaluate vegetation density identify different forms use. results showed Gaussian model fitted As well, whereas spherical Zn. An exponential Fe V. Pb also suited Stable model. each selected metals, root mean square standardized error (RMSSE) values close one, (MSE) almost zero Moreover, findings there tendency heavy metals rise west east. divided data this investigation into two clusters. Significant alterations Zn revealed by acquired data. However, total concentrations clusters did not differ significantly. mCd value region often fell one three classes, with areas 148.20 km2 (nil very low contamination), 26.16 (low 0.495 (moderate contamination). indicated minerals connected Arabian Shield’s basement rocks are main source these PTEs. It crucial monitor PTEs because highly cultivated, as shown NDVI LULC status. Given potential future pollution due activity, PTEsPTEs decision-makers may use distribution pollutants their basis monitoring study area.
