Higher consumption of coffee and caffeine has been linked to less weight gain lower body mass index in prospective cohort studies. The aim the study was longitudinally assess association changes intake with fat tissue, particular, visceral adipose tissue (VAT) using dual x-ray absorptiometry (DXA).In setting a large, randomized trial Mediterranean diet physical activity intervention, we evaluated 1483 participants metabolic syndrome (MetS). Repeated measurements from validated food frequency questionnaires (FFQ) DXA were collected at baseline, 6 months, 12 months 3 years follow-up. DXA-derived total regional expressed as % transformed into sex-specific z-scores. Linear multilevel mixed-effect models used investigate relationship between corresponding concurrent during 3-year follow-up.After adjustment for intervention group, other potential confounders, an increase caffeinated no or infrequent (≤3 cups/month) moderate (1-7 cups/week) associated reductions (Δ z-score: -0.06; 95% CI: -0.11 -0.02), trunk -0.07; -0.12 VAT -0.13 -0.01). Neither high levels (>1 cup/day) nor any decaffeinated showed significant associations measures.Moderate coffee, but not consumption, fat, MetS. Decaffeinated adiposity indicators. The purpose of food processing today is to make safer, more nutritious and tastier, increase storage life. Consumers have a lack trust in the way produced, formulated processed, particularly with possible contaminants or chemical residues from production. Food manufacturers are not seen as being highly trusted sources. This may partly result manufacturers’ reluctance share all information protect intellectual property via patents thus maintain competitive edge. Coffee is the most consumed beverage worldwide. Epidemiological studies with prospective cohorts showed that coffee intake associated reduced cardiovascular and all-cause mortality independently of caffeine content. Cohort case-control reported an inverse association between consumption degree liver fibrosis as well development cancer. Furthermore, beneficial effects have been recently confirmed by large meta-analyses. In last two decades, various in vitro vivo evaluated molecular determinants for hepatoprotective coffee. present article, we aimed to critically review experimental evidence regarding active components bases underlying role against chronic diseases. Coffee is one of the most popular drinks consumed in world, also Poland. In literature, much attention paid to influence coffee on human health, especially daily intake caffeine, and purchasing consumer behavior. There a lack research devoted choices habits relation consumption brewing method. Therefore, aim this study describe characteristics consumers present their segmentation based towards consumption. The was performed using computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) method group 1500 adults respondents Poland reporting coffee. We collected information about related consumption, including method, place consuming coffee, factors determining choices. Using cluster analysis, we identified three main groups consumers. are “Neutral drinkers”, “Ad hoc “Non-specific drinkers”. not gourmets; they like consume but these often changing To conclude, it can be stated that Polish prefers conventional methods (like “traditionalist”) open novelties new sensory experiences. Background: Certain foods rich in phenolic acids have been shown to reduce the risk of hypertension, but evidence from epidemiological studies focused on dietary acid intake is scarce. The aim this study was determine association between intake, as well their major food sources, and hypertension a Mediterranean cohort. Methods: Demographic data 2044 adults living Southern Italy were collected. Food frequency questionnaires Phenol-Explorer used calculate polyphenols. Multivariate logistic regression analyses test associations. Results: mean total cohort 362.6 mg/day. Individuals highest quartile (median = 522.2 mg/day) less likely (OR (odds ratio) 0.68, 95% CI (confidence interval): 0.46, 1.00).
