Taurine is a sulphur-containing amino acid with important physiological roles and key compound for the synthesis of bile salts, which are essential emulsion absorption dietary lipids. This study aimed to evaluate effects taurine supplementation low-fishmeal diets on metabolism taurine, acids, lipids Senegalese sole. A fishmeal (FM) plant-protein-based (PP0) diet were formulated, latter was supplemented at 0.5 1.5% (diets PP0.5 PP1.5). Diets assigned triplicate tanks containing 35 fish (initial weight ~14 g) 6 weeks. Fish from PP0 treatment presented lower bile-acid concentrations compared FM treatment, downregulation cyp7a1 abcb11 observed. Triolein catabolism decreased in PP0-fed fish, resulting increased hepatic fat content plasma triglycerides, while no cholesterol plant-based resulted higher accumulation tissues, concentration, upregulation abcb11. Hepatic triglycerides increasing supplementation. mitigated part negative diets, leading better lipid utilisation.

Aquaculture has been challenged to find alternative ingredients develop innovative feed formulations that foster a sustainable future growth. Given the most recent trends in fish formulation on use of protein sources decrease dependency fishmeal, it is fundamental evaluate implications this new paradigm for health and welfare. This work intends comprehensively review impacts novel dietary gut microbiota health, stress immune responses, disease resistance, antioxidant capacity. The research results indicate sources, such as terrestrial plant proteins, rendered animal by-products, insect meals, micro- macroalgae, single cell proteins (e.g., yeasts), may negatively impact thus affecting responses. Nevertheless, some insects algae have functional properties exert an immunostimulatory activity. Further effects beyond growth, clearly needed. information gathered here utmost importance, order diets guarantee production healthy with high quality standards optimised welfare conditions, contributing growth aquaculture industry.

There has been a consistent interest in the aquaculture industry use of plant elements as substitute for fish meal (FM). The present study aimed to examine impact substituting FM with varying proportions fermented spent coffee grounds (FCG) on growth performance, feed stability, blood biochemistry, liver, and intestinal histology African catfish, Clarias gariepinus. Five isonitrogenous diets were formulated crude protein content 32 %. These created different percentages replacement, specifically 0 % (T1), 10 (T2), 20 (T3), 40 (T4), 80 (T5). then fed these duration 70 days. results showed that provided FCG (T2) gave highest improvement (p < 0.05) conditions compared other treatments. feed's physical properties varying, but floatability water stability T2 diets. Total bacteria (TB) intestine more elevated histopathological damage liver morphology was observed when level inclusion increased all In addition, value villus length, width, crypt depth. Some parameters improved both haematology biochemical parameters, white cells, lymphocytosis, monocytes, red haemoglobin, albumin, globulin, total protein, creatine. summary, substitution holds potential application within aquafeed sector, it contribute enhanced health catfish freshwater species.

Application of herbal immune-stimulants for modulation fish growth and immune response has received great interest during the past decades. With several pharmacological properties, Doum palm, Hyphaene thebaica (Mart.) is known to be a beneficial medicinal plant. The objective this study was investigate effects dietary addition doum palm fruit powder (DPFP) on performance, non-specific response, antioxidant parameters African catfish, Clarias gariepinus (B.). A total 120 (average initial weight 60.50 ± 0.04 g) were randomly allocated four groups (three replicates/group, 10 fish/aquarium); basal diet without DPFP supplementation used as control, three other diets prepared by supplementing 5, 10, or 15 g kg-1 ten-week feeding period. Following ten weeks feeding, challenged with Aeromonas hydrophila (as an challenge test), mortalities recorded. In comparison control diet, significantly improved parameters, including final body weight, gain (WG), specific rate (SGR), feed conversion ratio (FCR), protein efficiency (PER), along increase in content dry matter whole body, concentration-dependent manner. Moreover, heights intestinal villi, numbers goblet cells, intraepithelial lymphocytes (IEL) exhibited marked escalation all parts intestine increasing level DPFP, except IEL proximal part. decline serum glucose, cholesterol, triglyceride levels prominent DPFP10 DPFP15 respective DPFP0 group. Furthermore, boosted hepatic catalase (CAT) fish, dose-dependent manner; meanwhile, activity superoxide dismutase (SOD) reduced glutathione (GSH) also augmented Dietary (DPFP15 followed then DPFP5) led pronounced enhancement innate (phagocytic percent index, lysozyme activity, nitric oxide (NO) production, sialoglycans, namely α 2,3-sialyltransferase 2,6-sialyltransferase content); however, myeloperoxidase (MPO) reduced. Significantly higher relative percentage survival (RPS, 88.56%) following A. challenge, observed We can suggest that beneficially influence growth, histomorphology, (CAT), content, disease resistance against challenge.

Indiscriminate use of insecticides is a major concern due to its ubiquitous occurrence and potential toxicity aquatic animals. This study investigated the adverse effects lambda-cyhalothrin (LCT; C23H19ClF3NO3) methomyl (MTM; C5H10N2O2S) on immune system modulations growth performance juvenile fishes. The supportive role taurine (TUR; C2H7NO3S)-supplemented diet was also evaluated. Juvenile O. niloticus fishes were exposed LCT (0.079 µg/L), MTM (20.39 or both in water fed basal only taurine-supplemented diet. Exposure retarded increased mortality rate. reduced antioxidant enzyme activities (superoxide dismutase glutathione peroxidase) innate humoral immunity but upregulated interleukin chemokine expressions. Moreover, exposure elevated 8-OHdG levels Oreochromis after experimental bacterial challenge. TUR-enriched enhanced enzymes acted as promoter anti-inflammatory agent. TUR can modify adaptive responses. Furthermore, supplementation beneficial additive candidate for mitigating toxicities mixed with aquafeed.
