Abstract Rising rates of suicide fatality, attempts, and ideations among adolescents aged 10–19 over the past two decades represent a national public health priority. Theories that seek to understand suicidal ideation overwhelmingly focus on transition from attempt sole cognition: active – serious consideration killing one’s self, with less attention non-suicidal cognitions emerge during adolescence may have implications for behavior. Objective The current study utilized latent profile analysis to identify distinct profiles of suicidal ideation among Black male adolescents and compared on socioecological determinants suicide psychological symptoms.Method A sample 457 (mean age = 15.31, SD 1.26) completed self-report measures ideation, racial discrimination, community violence exposure, anxiety symptoms, depressive posttraumatic stress symptoms.Results Results the revealed a three-profile model: low profile, with levels all forms ideation; general death elevated thoughts dying; high, concealed high items, except communicating others. ANOVAs that symptoms were significantly different for each showing highest levels. had lower scores than two other but did not differ from one another.
