The ponds are the important water resources for developing nations including rural India. They not only supply during non-monsoon period but also acts as a flood absorber monsoon period. However, with increase in population, modernization, and alternate schemes, getting polluted mainly due to discharge of wastewater from residential areas, sewage outlets, solid waste dump sites, livestock rearing sites (e.g., dairy, poultry), fertilizers pesticides farmers' fields. sludge accumulated these bodies may contain an appreciable amount toxic metals that leach groundwater long-term use contaminated water, either directly or nearby handpumps tubewells, can cause serious threats human health. This study investigated nine heavy metal (Pb, Cu, Ni, Zn, Cr, Cd, Fe, As, Mn) contamination pond sludge, soil, at twenty-one villages Western Uttar Pradesh (India), provides sound case examining accumulation terrestrial bodies. mean concentration Pb, As Mn was 0.64, 0.53, 0.94, 3.34, 0.62, 0.010, 151.70, 0.32, 35.02 mg/kg respectively, soil were 0.13, 0.45, 1.21, 0.82, 3.22, 0.06, 2055.04, 0.16, 457.84 respectively. geo-accumulation index (I-geo) ranged unpolluted extremely polluted. average I-geo values order Pb (4.93) > Zn (4.36) Ni (0.70) Cu (0.40) (0.32) Cd (-0.58) Cr (-1.96) Fe (-4.24) (-5.28) (2.76) (2.35) (2.17) (2.01) (1.53) (-0.22) (-0.49) (-0.78) (-1.41), combined ecological risk extended low very high risk. samples observed non-comply drinking standards levels Mn, health hazard 0.831 21.76. highlights value baseline monitoring ecosystem toxicity before rejuvenation such India other sub-tropical countries.

Abstract A key aspect of climate change is its impact on river water quality. Most research focuses the physiochemical parameters However, long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns coupled with anthropogenic activities play a significant role contamination. Metals are known to have toxic effects environmental persistence. This study evaluated heavy metal content Kaap River, where mining agriculture primary land use. 7-year was conducted investigate seasonal relationship between metals (EC pH). Fe, Al, As, Mn concentrations were analysed laboratory accredited by South African National Accreditation System (SANAS). The Python package Seaborn used generate heat maps for improved data visualization. Seasonal temporal fluctuations had combinatorial Mn, Al levels river. As unaffected. pH rivers within recommended range, despite flow regime, seasonal, time-dependent fluctuations. variations also observed EC, highest value 42.35 mS/m being recorded during winter 2022, exceeding threshold 30 mS/m. correlation analysis revealed positive correlations EC/pH Al/Fe combinations weak degree association other ( P < 0.05). permanent monitoring quality required ensure sustainable livelihoods safety River water, which subject over time.

The present study, deals with the estimation of degrees contamination, ecological and human health risk heavy metals (As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn) in sediments, surface water fishes, which were collected from middle stretch Damodar river ponds at Asansol, receives outfall various coal-based industries. Metal content premonsoon season was higher than postmonsoon, due to influx rainwater. metal pollution indices (HPI) some locations observed up 1.45 times recommended value cadmium (Cd) found dominating for high HPI value. Cd concentration pore varied 2.8 14.9 µg/L 15.3–57.0 µg/L, respectively, 6 permissible limit. Ecological assessment sediments illustrates 'moderate considerable risk', especially because Cd. Hazard index (HI) calculated identify potential by dermal exposure <0.1, indicating 'negligible non-cancer risk' all age group people. However, HI 0.73 1.49 adult 1.37–2.78 consumption fishes indicates children have 'non-cancer adult.

Ganga is the largest riverine system of India with a fragile ecosystem. Its prone to anthropogenic disturbances because its cultural, economic and environmental values. The contamination river by heavy metals (HM) due biotic (anthropogenic sources) abiotic (pesticides, fertilizers) sources that poses devastating health hazard human, plant edible fish life. chemical analysis help atomic absorption spectrometer performed on water samples demonstrated accumulation such as Arsenic (As), Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), Iron (Fe), Zinc (Zn). Moreover, spectrophotometric indicated clearly in order occurrence (Fe > As Cd Zn Pb) liver (Zn Fe kidney Channa punctatus. present study has be used sensitively monitor extent pollution aqua life Ramganga suggested bioaccumulation metal punctatus reached above permissible limits for human consumption, indicating potential risks. Ulva macroalgae species are recognized to be an underexploited source of key nutrients, including proteins, fibers and minerals. The present work evaluated the nutritional value protein, ash, mineral composition, fat, fatty acid profile dietary fiber green rigida produced in open land-based integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) system, over four seasons. Overall, protein fat content farmed algae ranged between 7.6 25.8% DW 0.2 1.3% DW, respectively, reaching highest levels during autumn/winter In turn, total ashes showed a contrary seasonal tendency, maximum spring (40.9–58.3% 25.5–38.8% respectively). Notably, latter were particularly characterized by their richness potassium, magnesium iron, sodium/potassium ratio bellow 1.7. Variable cultivation conditions stocking density (Sd) flow rate (Fr) also tested, allowing confirm that manipulation IMTA system may help improve this macroalga boost its market through use as functional food ingredient.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and heavy metals (HMs) are predominant pollutants linked with anthropogenic activities across a host of environmental mediums. The level pollution, ecological health risk were assessed in surface water from Ekulu Enugu metropolis, Nigeria for 17 PAHs selected HMs (As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Pb, Ni, Zn) components. determined using gas chromatography-flame ionization detector (GC-FID) atomic adsorption spectrophotometer (AAS). total station A (3.17mg/l), B (1.51mg/l), C (1.83mg/l) due to high molecular weight (HMW) than low PAHs. contents within USEPA WHO minimum contamination levels (MCL) except Cr Pb. diagnostics showed that incomplete combustion carbonaceous compounds was dominant, while petrogenic insignificant all samples. indices varied medium pollution pose threat the ecosystem. non-carcinogenic models hazard index (HI) ranged (0.027 - 0.083) (0.0067 0.087) which is less unity implying no adverse issues. lifetime cancer (LCR) (4.21×10-4 9.61×10-4) (1.72×10-5 3.98×10-5) suggested significant possible over some time population 1 10,000 100,000 both exposure 70 years. Therefore, there an urgent need proper control mitigation plan preserve age groups being continuously exposed River further study should be carried out monitor available toxicants.
