Cadmium (Cd), a highly toxic heavy metal, accumulates in the liver and kidneys human body by several routes. Tomatoes related processed food possess multiple physiological functions such as antioxidation, antiinflammation, anticancer. Herein, to investigate whether tomato extract (TE) can protect against cadmium chloride (CdCl 2 )-induced oxidative damage kidneys, models were established vitro vivo, control group TE intervention groups also set up. A significant elevation was observed Cd concentration level of alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine (CR), uric acid (UA) serum CdCl -treated rats compared with group, contrast, these values reduced following intervention. Moreover, it found that exposure decreased superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, glutathione (GSH) level, catalase (CAT) activity raised malondialdehyde (MDA) serum, tissues, kidney HepG2 cells, which be reversed mitigate damage. In addition, exerted an inhibitory effect on cell apoptosis both brought intoxication, manifested downregulation Caspase-3 protein up-regulation B-cell lymphoma gene (Bcl-2) after treatment. Altogether, our study reinforces previous findings disrupted redox homeostasis, leading kidneys. More importantly, suggest hepatorenal protective toxicity is implicated inhibition stress apoptosis.

Timely diagnosis and appropriate antitumoral treatments remain of utmost importance, since cancer remains a leading cause death worldwide. Within this context, nanotechnology offers specific benefits in terms therapy by reducing its adverse effects guiding drugs to selectively target cells. In comprehensive review, we have summarized the most relevant novel outcomes range 2010-2023, covering design application nanosystems for therapy. We established general requirements nanoparticles be used drug delivery strategies their uptake tumor microenvironment vasculature, including reticuloendothelial system surface functionalization with protein corona. After brief review classes nanovectors, covered different therapies. First, advances encapsulation (such as paclitaxel fisetin) into nanoliposomes nanoemulsions are described, well relevance current clinical trials. Then, polymeric presented, namely ones comprising poly lactic-co-glycolic acid, polyethylene glycol (and PEG dilemma) dendrimers. The quantum dots bioimaging is also covered, systems zinc sulfide indium phosphide. Afterwards, reviewed gold (spheres anisotropic) plasmon-induced photothermal iron oxide nanoparticles, such magnetite maghemite, has been analyzed fields, magnetic resonance imaging, immunotherapy, hyperthermia, delivery. Lastly, recent using carbon nanomaterials, graphene oxide, nanotubes, fullerenes, dots. Finally, compared passive active targeting theranostics. This aims (nano)mark on ongoing journey towards realizing remarkable potential realm therapeutics.

Heavy metal contamination in soil, such as cadmium (Cd), poses a serious threat to global food security and human health. It must be managed using environmentally friendly cost-effective technologies. Plants with high resistance Cd stress biomass production could potential candidates for the phytoremediation of Cd-contaminated soils improve phytoextraction. In this regard, present study was carried out determine effect gibberellic acid (GA3), indole acetic (IAA), fertilizers (N, P, K) on Parthenium hysterophorus growth well phytoextraction capabilities. A pot experiment conducted various combinations PGRs fertilizers, treatments arranged five replicates completely randomized design. After harvesting, each plant divided into parts stems, roots, leaves, different growth, physiological, biochemical parameters were recorded. Results showed that under stress, all significantly decreased. With combined application regulators (GA3 IAA) nutrients, alleviated improved. comparison control treatment, N + P K GA3 IAA resulted highest fresh dry root (12.31 5.11 g pot-1), shoot (19. 69 6.99 leaves (16.56 7.09 entire (48.56 19.19 pot-1). Similarly, same treatment higher chlorophyll b total contents which 2.19, 2.03, 3.21 times than control, without any treatment. The combination also proline phenolic contents. case enzyme activities, led increase catalase (2.5 times), superoxide (3.5 peroxidase (3.7 times) compared control. N+ P+ IAA, maximum values BCF (8.25), BAC (2.6), RF (5.14%) measured potential. On basis these findings, it is concluded P. has grow, produce most biomass, act hyperaccumulator soil.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen (RNS) are formed as a result of natural cellular processes, intracellular signaling, or adverse responses associated with diseases exposure to oxidizing chemical non-chemical stressors. The action ROS RNS, collectively referred (RONS), has recently become highly relevant in number outcome pathways (AOPs) that capture, organize, evaluate portray causal relationships pertinent adversity disease progression. RONS can potentially act key event (KE) the cascade leading an (AO) within such AOPs, but also known modulate events along AOP continuum without being itself. A substantial discussion therefore been undertaken series workshops named “Mystery ROS” elucidate role effects stressors nanoparticles, chemical, ionizing non-ionizing radiation. This review introduces background for production, reflects on direct indirect RONS, addresses diversity terminology used different fields research, provides guidance developing harmonized approach defining common developer community.

Soil and water are increasingly at risk of contamination from the toxic heavy metals lead (Pb) cadmium (Cd). Arabis paniculata (Brassicaceae) is a hyperaccumulator (HMs) found widely distributed in areas impacts by mining activities. However, mechanism which A. tolerates HMs still uncharacterized. For this experiment, we employed RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) order to find Cd (0.25 mM)- Pb (2.50 mM)-coresponsive genes paniculata. In total, 4490 1804 differentially expressed (DEGs) were identified root tissue, 955 2209 DEGs shoot after exposure, respectively. Interestingly gene expression corresponded similarly both Pd 27.48% co-upregulated 41.00% co-downregulated. Kyoto Encyclopedia Genes Genomes (KEGG) Gene Ontology (GO) analyses showed that co-regulated predominantly involved transcription factors (TFs), cell wall biosynthesis, metal transport, plant hormone signal transduction, antioxidant enzyme activity. Many critical Pb/Cd-induced phytohormone biosynthesis HM also identified. Especially ABCC9 was co-downregulated tissues but tissues. The co-downregulation roots prevented entering vacuole rather than cytoplasm for transporting shoots. While shoots, results vacuolar accumulation, may explain why hyperaccumulator. These will help reveal molecular physiological processes underlying tolerance exposure paniculata, aid future efforts utilize phytoremediation.

Ischemic stroke is a leading cause of disability and mortality worldwide. Thus, it urgent to explore its pathophysiological mechanisms find new therapeutic strategies for successful treatment. The relationship between oxidative stress ischemic increasingly appreciated attracting considerable attention. ROS serves as source stress. It byproduct mitochondrial metabolism but primarily functional product NADPH oxidases (NOX) family members. Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase 4 (NOX4) most closely related the formation during stroke. Its expression significantly upregulated after cerebral ischemia, making promising target treating Several drugs targeting NOX4, such SCM-198, Iso, G-Rb1, betulinic acid, electroacupuncture, have shown efficacy treatments MTfp-NOX4 POC provides novel insight treatment Combinations these therapies also provide approaches therapy In this review, we summarize subcellular location, expression, NOX4 in occurrence development We discuss regulatory further comment on shortcomings current NOX4-targeted studies direction improvement.
