This paper reviews the environmental implications associated with COVID-19 pandemic at individual and community levels in UAE. The positive effects emanating from include improved air quality reduced contamination of public spaces pollutants. On other hand, far-reaching negative poor disposal medical plastic waste facemasks rise unhygienic health practices amongst residents long-term ecological are still not well understood. findings shed light on importance addressing consequences through preventative policies strategies for better readiness future crises. Future research could assess conse-quences

The COVID-19 pandemic changed urban mobility patterns in unprecedented ways with movement decreasing, few public transport customers, and empty streets turning into pop-up bike lanes. Accordingly, a decrease local air pollution was reported at the start of models suggested lower carbon footprint mobility. Here, we offer critical discussion indirect environmental impacts that can be inferred from short-lived behaviour. Examining Berlin, analyse to what extent volume modal split influenced direct greenhouse gas emissions throughout (2020-2022). analysis combines traffic counts survey data process-specific life cycle assessment factors. results show reductions during stem largely short-term decline car use, while became more intensive. Emission use were not realised, nor reduction vehicle production due slowly responding upstream demand planning. This highlights need revise current assumption perfectly markets behavioural change crises, experimentation, transitions.

The COVID-19 pandemic changed urban mobility patterns in unprecedented ways with movement decreasing, few public transport customers, and empty streets turning into pop-up bike lanes. Accordingly, a decrease local air pollution was reported at the start of pandemic. However, little is known about full supply chain global environmental effects these new patterns. Examining Berlin, we analyse how volume modal split influenced direct indirect emissions throughout analysis combines traffic counts survey data life cycle assessment results. There an overall reduction emissions, but this resulted from lower general instead more sustainable choices. Additionally, some emission reductions further up were not realised due to slowly responding vehicle demand planning. This highlights importance including upstream changes footprint assessments during crisis.
