Designing for collaborative learning in immersive virtual reality: a systematic literature review

Abstract
Immersive
learning
technologies
such
as
virtual
reality
have
long
been
deemed
the
next
generation
of
digital
environments.
There
is
a
limited
number
studies
addressing
how
immersive
can
be
designed,
applied,
and
studied
in
collaborative
settings.
This
paper
presents
systematic
review
empirical
reporting
on
use
within
educational
professional
11
grouped
coded
textual
narrative
synthesis,
outlining
pedagogical
concepts
behind
design,
well
design
environments
activities
which
technology
employed.
The
results
suggest
that
currently
conceptualised
shared
experience
an
immersive,
virtually
mediated
space,
where
there
goal/problem
learners
must
attend
to
collaboratively.

Abstract
By
adopting
a
situated
and
interactional
approach,
we
explore
students’
immersive
VR
experiences
as
resources
for
collaborative
meaning
making
learning.
We
draw
on
data
from
project
in
which
teachers
researchers
co-developed
learning
design
upper
secondary
students
involving
technology.
In
this
design,
viewed
cinematic
film
where
they
encountered
different
people
telling
personal
stories
about
exclusion
discrimination,
followed
by
reflective
group
dialogues
with
their
teacher
environment.
Through
detailed
interaction
analysis
of
these
dialogues,
identify
four
dimensions
that
characterize
making:
