Abstract There is an urgent demand for substantial reforms in the governance of coastal regions. Recent research advocates a transformative shift European system towards landscape approach. This perspective, informed by narrative literature review on and governance, explores potential value drawing Council Europe Landscape Convention. Our results, presented form manifesto, underscore need to move beyond political administrative boundaries address all landscapes as socio-ecological systems. The landscape crisis and the climate strongly affect coastal landscapes in many regions worldwide. Evidence shows that difficulty of governing has increased alongside attractiveness contemporary societies for settlements near coastline. Worldwide, information is needed about the social landscape management as there no known studies that have documented how climate-smart approaches improve soil and water status. In Sub-Saharan Africa, effective governance necessitates a certain amount of capital, including trust agreed-upon standards. Climate-smart landscapes are key to successful but little effort been made critically resources. The study was guided by specific objectives, which include examining equitable finding out major challenges facing implementation landscapes. Using "landscape governance" AND "climate smart landscape," 31 papers (31) were obtained from Web Science (WOS) twenty-nine (27) Scopus databases using search engines (1992-2022). On landscapes, it found multi-stakeholder participation in an iterative changing process can assist addressing resolving disputes well facilitating fair negotiation procedures for underrepresented minority groups. Abstract Transfrontier conservation areas (TFCAs) are regarded as crucial instruments for biodiversity they connect landscapes across country borders. The TFCA framework is built on multi-actor, multi-sector and multi-level negotiations, a concept that incorporates principles of landscape governance (LG). This article driven by our interest in the transfrontier such Great Limpopo Park. study aims to explore narratives two academic discourses LG. uses bibliometric analysis systematic review based PRISMA determine (i) which degree share commonalities their take each other into account (ii) how have developed between 1998 2022 (iii) geographical distribution publications discourses. Despite coastal area being recognised as an important subcomponent in protected and conserved areas targets for over a decade, it has been orphaned both national international reporting. In this paper, we provide the first progress report on Canada. While 13.6 per cent of Canada’s is conserved, there substantial variation across three oceans Great Lakes, jurisdictional authorities, marine/terrestrial ecosystems.
