In recent years, how to improve the functional performance of food packaging materials has received increasing attention. One common inorganic material, nanometer zinc oxide (ZnO-NPs), garnered significant attention due its excellent antibacterial properties and sensitivity. Consequently, ZnO-NP-based are rapidly developing in industry. However, there is currently a lack comprehensive systematic reviews on use ZnO-NPs as fillers packaging. this review, we introduced characteristics mechanism ZnO-NPs, paid factors affecting activity ZnO-NPs. Furthermore, systematically analyzed application intelligent containing At same time, paper also thoroughly investigated impact various including thickness, moisture resistance, water vapor barrier, mechanical properties, optical thermal microstructure materials. Finally, discussed migration safety safe have negligible rates, simultaneously their sensitivity can be used detect quality changes during storage extend shelf life.

Abstract Packaging is very important to maintain the quality of food and prevent growth microbes. Therefore, use packaging with antimicrobial properties protects from microorganisms. In this study, antibacterial nanocomposite films polyvinyl alcohol/starch/chitosan (PVA/ST/CS) together nickel oxide-copper oxide nanoparticles (NiO–CuONPs) are prepared for packaging. NiO–CuONPs were synthesized by co-precipitation method, structural characterization (NPs) was carried out XRD, FTIR, SEM techniques. Composites PVA/ST/CS, containing different percentages NPs, casting characterized FTIR FESEM. The mechanical properties, diffusion barrier, thermal stability determined. have a round structure an average size 6.7 ± 1.2 nm. cross-section PVA/ST/CS film dense, uniform, without cracks. tests, addition NPs up 1% improved (TS = 31.94 MPa), while 2% lowered TS 14.76 MPa. fibroblast cells toxicity activity also examined. displayed stronger effects against Gram-positive bacteria ( Staphylococcus aureus ) compared Gram-negative Escherichia coli ). Furthermore, these no survival rate in contact more than 84%. recommended due its excellent barrier good activity, non-toxicity.
