Background/objectives: Propolis (bee glue) is a valuable bee product widely used as natural remedy, cosmetic ingredient, nutritional value enhancer and food biopreservative. The present research aims to investigate the phenolic content, antioxidant activity in vitro anti-inflammatory antitumor potential of six propolis samples from three regions Bulgaria (Vidin, Gabrovo Lovech). Methods: analysis compounds was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC); ethanolic extracts assessed 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assay ferric-reducing power (FRAP) assay; inhibition albumin denaturation method; human metastatic breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231 using 3-(4,5-Dimethyl -2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Results: exhibited total content 190.4 317.0 mg GAE/g, flavonoid 53.4 79.3 QE/g caffeic acid derivatives 5.9 12.1 CAE/g. studied showed significant capacity (between 1000.3 1606.0 mM TE/g DPPH assay, between 634.1 1134.5 FRAP assay). chemical composition indicated high concentrations benzyl ester, chrysin, pinocembrin pinobanksin-3-O-propionate, predominantly originating Lovech regions. All demonstrated promising activity, expressed thermally induced 73.59% 78.44%, which higher than that conventional drugs Aspirin (58.44%) Prednisolone Cortico (57.34%). cytotoxicity against cells with IC50 values ranging 9.24 13.62 µg/mL MTT Conclusions: Overall, we can suggest Bulgarian respective areas contributes its enhanced antioxidant, activity. Taken together, our results support beneficial properties propolis, application therapeutic agent.

Dental implants are widely recognized for their effectiveness in restoring missing teeth, yet success is often compromised by infections or inadequate osseointegration. Propolis, a natural resinous substance with potent antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and osteogenic properties, has emerged as promising adjunct dental implantology. This systematic review critically evaluates the current evidence on incorporation of propolis into implants, focusing its impact antimicrobial efficacy, bone healing, overall implant stability. The study protocol was registered PROSPERO under registration number CRD42024577122. PRISMA diagram visually represented search strategy, screening, inclusion process. Two reviewers conducted comprehensive literature across five databases: PubMed, PubMed Central, Embase, Scopus, Web Science. synthesized findings from 13 studies; vitro, vivo, clinical studies, highlighting that significantly enhances antibacterial antifungal activities against pathogens such Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, Streptococcus mutans, thereby reducing risk peri-implant infections. Additionally, promotes osseointegration stimulating osteoblast activity inflammatory cytokine expression, leading to improved formation anti-inflammatory antioxidant properties further contribute favorable healing environment, enhancing long-term implants. underscores potential safe, biocompatible, effective material improving outcomes. However, it also identifies need more extensive trials fully establish standardized protocols application provides an overview propolis’s role suggests avenues future research optimize benefits practice.
