In a technology-driven world, the concepts of digitalization and Industry 4.0 (I4.0) are an ever more present reality for companies. The benefits which these advancements offer, coupled with market-driven pressure to reduce response times, have placed businesses in technological “wave”, where it is imperative adapt avoid falling behind. While numerous studies focus on developments—such as definitions, capabilities, potential benefits—few provide systematic approach best practices recommendations accelerating digital transformation while mitigating adverse impacts. this study, case from 10 companies analyzed identify systematize implemented their transitions. findings culminate best-practice framework transition (DT), highlighting critical aspects such understanding company’s current state, acquiring external knowledge, addressing importance cybersecurity skilled staff. ABSTRACT In an era marked by profound societal transformations and disruptions, companies in the information systems technologies (IS/IT) consultancy sector face increasing pressure to rethink their growth strategies secure sustained competitive advantages. Digital transformation, as a key megatrend, plays central role reshaping this sector, reflecting complexity of current market disruptive influence communication (ICT) on both business society. This study provides novel contribution integrating extensive body literature digital transformation with strategic decision‐making IS/IT focusing specifically dynamics Axians Portugal. Employing Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM), sophisticated methodology for structuring complex, multi‐dimensional causal relationships, research systematically analyzes determinants company. Purpose In light of the challenges and opportunities posed by globalization technological advancements, this study aims to develop a decision-support system assist companies in identifying, structuring prioritizing variables influencing their transformation adaptation processes Society 5.0. Design/methodology/approach The research employs methodological approach focused on knowledge creation through expert discussions involving diverse backgrounds. ABSTRACT Following the aftermath of COVID‐19 pandemic, small and medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs) have faced growing challenges that underscore critical need for enhanced organizational resilience. This study aims to bridge gap in resilience research by offering a structured practical decision‐support tool enhance SMEs. Adopting multiple‐criteria decision analysis (MCDA) approach, combining value‐focused thinking (VFT), interpretative structural modeling (ISM), identifies prioritizes key initiatives factors affecting SME Specifically, using constructivist, process‐oriented methodology, we engaged an expert panel from diverse sectors, including technology, manufacturing, services, collaboratively develop group cognitive map interpretive model guide resilience‐building efforts.
