Abstract The cerebellum plays a crucial role in functions, including sensory‐motor coordination, cognition, and emotional processing. Compared to the neocortex, human exhibits protracted developmental trajectory. This delayed timeline may lead increased sensitivity of external influences, potentially extending vulnerability period for neurological disorders. Abnormal cerebellar development individuals with autism has been confirmed, these atypical changes affect neocortex. However, due heterogeneity spectrum disorder (ASD), regional cerebellocerebral structural relationship remain unknown. To address issues, we utilized imaging methods optimized cerebrum on 817 aged 5–18 years ABIDE II dataset. After FDR correction, significant differences between groups were found right crus II/VIIB vermis VI‐VII. Structural covariance analysis revealed enhanced parahippocampal gyrus, pars opercularis, transverse temporal gyrus hemisphere after correction. Furthermore, some regions varied across sexes. A increase specific subcortical structures was also observed ASD. Our study patterns autism, which suggested that underlying pathological processes ASD might concurrently brain regions. provided insight into potential pathways as therapeutic targets

The key elements for fear extinction learning are unexpected omissions of expected aversive events, which considered to be rewarding. Given its reception reward information, we tested the hypothesis that cerebellum contributes prediction error processing driving via connections with ventral tegmental area (VTA). Forty-three young and healthy participants performed a three-day conditioning paradigm in 7T MR scanner. VTA were active during unconditioned stimuli, particularly initial trials. Increased functional connectivity was observed between VTA, indicating could positively modulate activity, turn might facilitate dopaminergic signaling learning. These results imply an interaction should incorporated into existing model network.

Background/Objectives: Fake pain expressions are more intense, prolonged, and include non-pain-related actions compared to genuine ones. Despite these differences, individuals struggle detect deception in direct tasks (i.e., when asked liars). Regarding neural correlates, while observation has been extensively studied, little is known about the distinctions between processing genuine, fake, suppressed facial expressions. This study seeks address this gap using authentic stimuli an implicit emotional task. Methods: Twenty-four healthy women underwent fMRI study, during which they were instructed complete gender discrimination Stimuli video clips showing pain, neutral After scanning session, participants reviewed rated them indirectly according intensity of expression (IE) (IP). Results: Mean scores IE IP significantly different for each category. A greater BOLD response fake was observed pregenual anterior cingulate cortex (pACC). parametric analysis showed a correlation brain activity mid-cingulate (aMCC) ratings. Conclusions: Higher ratings higher ones suggest that able recognize authenticity At level, pACC aMCC appear be involved unveiling vs. coding perceived respectively.

Body image-related cyberbullying (BRC), which targets an individual's body shape, weight, and/or size, is associated with dissatisfaction and maladaptive eating behaviours among adolescent females. However, its neurobiological mechanisms remain unclear. Using functional magnetic resonance imaging, we examined neural responses to BRC stimuli in 26 females (14-18 years; Mage = 15.54) from the Longitudinal Adolescent Brain Study. elicited greater BOLD regions implicated emotional regulation (insula, anterior cingulate cortex), visual processing (lateral occipital cortex, fusiform gyrus), social cognition (temporal pole, angular gyrus). Adolescents recent experiences exhibited parahippocampal gyrus lateral whereas those without showed caudate amygdala. Longitudinally, increased perpetration was middle temporal gyri. These findings provide insights into pathways through may influence brain function mental health.

Depression is generally accompanied by a disturbed conscious processing of emotion, which manifests as negative bias to facial/voice emotion information and decreased accuracy in recognition tasks. Several studies have proved that abnormal brain activation was responsible for the deficit function depression. However, altered related depression incongruent among studies. Therefore, we conducted an likelihood estimation (ALE) analysis better understand underlying neurophysiological mechanism depression.Electronic databases were searched using search terms "depression," "emotion recognition," "neuroimaging" from inceptions April 10th, 2023. The role of the posterior cerebellum in social cognition is well established; however, it still unclear whether different cerebellar subregions contribute to cognitive processes by exerting specific functions. Here, we employed transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) male and female healthy humans test hypothesis existence a medial-to-lateral gradient functional organization cerebellum, according which phylogenetically newer hemispheres are involved tasks requiring higher-level inferences whereas vermal/medial sectors basic perceptual emotional mechanisms. We found that interfering via TMS with activity medial significantly impaired recognition/discrimination. In turn, only over lateral affected task recognizing an emotion considering context was experienced. Overall, our data support supporting recognition being recruited when taps on higher inferential processing/mentalizing. Interestingly, contribution these seems be restricted negative stimuli.SIGNIFICANCE STATEMENT has been recently recognized as critical component brain, topography this structure relation debated. By adopting causative approach through use (TMS), present study critically insights into testing reflects increasing complexity processes. Our findings demonstrate regions exert partially distinguishable functions domain, mainly mediates mechanisms while although more functions, further subserves operations.

Abstract Although the human cerebellum has a surface that is about 80% of cerebral cortex and four times as many neurons, its functional organization still very much uncharted. Despite recent attempts to provide resting-state task-based parcellations cerebellum, these two approaches lead large discrepancies. This article describes comprehensive parcellation based on large-scale database, NeuroSynth, involving an unprecedented diversity tasks, which were reliably associated with ontological key terms referring psychological functions. Abstract Although the cerebellum contributes to higher-order cognitive and emotional functions relevant posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), prior research on cerebellar volume in PTSD is scant, particularly when considering subregions that differentially map motor, cognitive, affective functions.
