The challenges facing primary education are significant: a growing teacher shortage, relatively high administrative burdens that contribute to work-related stress and an increasing diversity of children in the classroom. A promising new technology can help teachers meet these is social robot. These physical robots often use artificial intelligence communicate with by taking on roles, such as fellow classmate or teaching assistant. Purpose Anthropomorphism in Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered devices is being used increasingly frequently consumer-facing situations (e.g., AI Assistants such as Alexa, virtual agents websites, call/chat bots, etc.), and therefore, it essential to understand anthropomorphism both consequences for consumers optimize firms' product development marketing. Extant literature fragmented across several domains limited the marketing domain. In this review, we aim bring together insights from different fields develop a parsimonious conceptual framework guide future research of consumer behavior.

While numerous studies of robot-assisted language learning (RALL) for English-as-a-foreign-language (EFL) learners’ skill development have been done, a comprehensive and theoretically-driven meta-analysis on its effects is still in paucity. To fill the gap, drawing Activity Theory (AT), this study reported from 47 independent out 29 literature samples involving 1791 EFL learners RALL published during 2004–2023. The results indicated that overall effect size was g = .69, 95% CI [.49, .90], suggesting outperforms non-RALL conditions. In addition, educational levels intervention durations were found to be significant moderators. Based results, implications practice discussed.

This study investigated a seven sessions interaction between peer-tutor robot and Dutch preschoolers (5 years old) during which the children learned English. We examined whether children's engagement differed when interacting with tablet using iconic gestures, no gestures only tablet. Two types were annotated (task engagement) novel coding scheme based on an existing used in kindergartens. The findings revealed that task dropped over time all three conditions, consistent novelty effect. However, there differences different conditions for engagement. Interestingly, showed difference conditions. Children more engaged than without gestures. Finally, comparing word knowledge their engagement, we found both positively correlated retention.

One of the many purposes for which social robots are designed is education, and there have been attempts to systematize their potential in this field. What these common recognition that learning can be supported a variety ways because learner engaged different activities foster learning. Up now, three roles proposed when designing robots: as teacher or tutor, peer, novice. Current research proposes deciding favor one role over another depends on content preferred pedagogical form. However, design changes not only learning, but also nature human–robot relationship. This particularly important language acquisition, has recognized endeavor. The following review aims specify differences relationships children learn through interacting with robot. After proposing categories comparing relationships, we established more specific, innovative robot play language-learning scenarios. follows Mead’s (1946) theoretical approach performed interactive acts. Social robots hold potential for supporting children’s well-being in classrooms. However, it is unclear which robot features add to a trustworthy relationship between child and whether social are just as able reduce stress traditional interventions, such listening classical music. We set up two experiments wherein children interacted with real-life school environment. Our main results show that regardless of the robotic tested (intonation, male/female voice, humor) most tend trust during their first interaction. Adding humor robots’ dialogue seems have negative impact on trust, especially girls without prior experience robots. In comparing music session interaction, we found no significant differences. Both interventions were lower levels children, however, not significantly. build interactions levels.
