challenges

primary
education

relatively

administrative
burdens

work-related
stress
and
an
increasing
diversity
of
children
in
the
classroom.
A
promising
new
technology
can
help
teachers
meet
these
is
social
robot.
These
physical
robots
often
use
artificial
intelligence
communicate
with
by
taking
on
roles,
such
as
fellow
classmate
or
teaching
assistant.
Previous
research
shows
lead
better
results
several
ways
than

traditional
educational
technologies

Purpose
Anthropomorphism

(RALL)

English-as-a-foreign-language
(EFL)
learners’
skill
development
have
been
done,
a
comprehensive
and
theoretically-driven
meta-analysis
on
its
effects
is
still
in
paucity.
To
fill
the
gap,
drawing
Activity
Theory
(AT),
this
study
reported
from
47
independent
out
29
literature
samples
involving
1791
EFL
learners
RALL
published
during
2004–2023.
The
results
indicated
that
overall
effect
size
was
g
=
.69,
95%
CI
[.49,
.90],
suggesting
outperforms
non-RALL
conditions.

were

to
be
significant

This
study
investigated
a
seven
sessions
interaction
between
peer-tutor
robot
and
Dutch
preschoolers
(5
years
old)
during
which
the
children
learned
English.
We
examined
whether
children's
engagement
differed
when
interacting
with
tablet
using
iconic
gestures,
no
gestures
only
tablet.
Two
types
were
annotated
(task
engagement)

coding
scheme
based
on
an
existing

in
kindergartens.
The
findings
revealed
that
task
dropped
over
time

conditions,

One
of
the
many
purposes
for
which
social
robots
are
designed
is
education,
and
there
have
been
attempts
to
systematize
their
potential
in
this
field.

Social
robots
hold
potential
for
supporting
children’s
well-being
in
classrooms.
However,
it

unclear
which
robot
features
add
to
a
trustworthy
relationship
between
child

whether
social
