Summary Urban Food Policies are valuable instruments that cities use to address the multidimensional challenges of food security, safety and sustainability in urban contexts. As urbanisation continues, these policies offer targeted solutions, involving coordinated efforts by city governments, civil society stakeholders, promoting local resilience. They implemented four types, including substantive (e.g. schools’ canteens hubs), regulative hygiene standards on street vendors), fiscal tax sugary beverages), informative interventions campaigns sustainable practices). expand, they face important issues, such as access disparities, rising malnutrition, environmental degradation waste accumulation. can go beyond traditional national policies, incorporating account for specific issues life. The main key objectives are: ensuring security safety, preserving biodiversity reducing pollution peri‐urban systems, management, healthy diets, safeguarding cultural identity. However, their effectiveness depends robust multi‐level governance, collaboration political will, targeting line with Sustainable Development Goals. Policies’ contribution enable current future food‐related a holistic way.

Objectives: This longitudinal study measured changes in adherence to sustainable healthy diets 698 Chilean children (aged 3–6 years at baseline) over the period that Chile’s Food Labelling and Advertising Law was implemented. Methods: Dietary data were collected annually from 2016 2019 applying single multiple-pass 24 h dietary recalls children’s primary caretakers. The Planetary Health Diet Index for Children Adolescents (PHDI-C) used quantify where higher scores indicate better adherence. Linear mixed models fitted estimate change PHDI-C total individual component 2019. Results: Mean score decreased 50.1 points 46.3 46.1 2018 2019, respectively (p-value < 0.001), suggesting overall low time. Intake of legumes, fruits, dark green vegetables, red orange vegetable oils decreased, while intake palm oil, meats, animal fats increased, resulting small but significant declines eight scores. Whole cereal consumption dairy products added sugars improvements three Conclusions: Aside decrease sugar intake, all observed this consistent with trends described among transitioning pre-school age school age. might have contributed reducing further research is required establish causality.

Abstract Introduction A transformation of food systems is urgently needed, given their contribution to three ongoing and interlinked global health pandemics: (1) undernutrition insecurity, (2) obesity non-communicable diseases (NCDs), (3) climate change biodiversity loss. As policymakers make decisions that shape systems, this study aimed identify prioritise policies with double- or triple-duty potential achieve healthier more environmentally sustainable systems. Methods This undertook a 4-step methodological approach, including (i) compilation international policy recommendations, (ii) an online survey, (iii) four regional workshops experts (iv) ranking for prioritisation. Policies were identified prioritised based on potential, synergies trade-offs. Using participatory transdisciplinary approaches, have if they deemed effective in tackling two the primary outcomes interest: undernutrition, obesity/NCDs environmental degradation. Results The desk review 291 recommendations governments, which merged classified into 46 initially proposed policies. Based results from 61% those perceived potential. During workshops, 4 31 trade-offs these identified. final list 44 created was divided main domains: ‘food supply chains’ environments’. outcome most ‘undernutrition’, followed by ‘environmental sustainability’, ‘obesity/NCDs’. Of top five expert-ranked chain policies, potential: (a) incentives crop diversification; (b) support start-ups, small- medium-sized enterprises. For environments, ranked had affordability diets; subsidies foods; (c) restrictions children's exposure marketing through all media. Conclusion comprehensive government creating some may across outcomes, should be carefully contextualised, designed, implemented monitored.

Food insecurity, characterized by inadequate access to sufficient and nutritious food, poses a significant challenge the health well-being of older adults. This systematic review meta-analysis was aimed examine association between food insecurity body mass index (BMI) in people, i.e., aging 60 above. PRISMA 2020 guidelines were followed. The protocol registered PROSPERO advance (ID CRD 42024543271). PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus searched up February 2024. Out 5834 retrieved article, total 13 studies met inclusion criteria, encompassing diverse geographic regions socioeconomic contexts. revealed higher BMI (both obesity overweight) Pooled estimates indicated that food-insecure individuals more likely be overweight or obese (combined) compared their food-secure counterparts [OR= 1.29 (95% CI= 1.28-1.30), p<0.001; I
