Abstract Background Quantitative assessment of muscle mass is a critical step in sarcopenia disease management. Expanding upon the use ultrasound foetal growth assessment, we established and validated an ultrasound-derived system for older adults at risk sarcopenia. Methods A total 669 were recruited three cohorts this cross-sectional study. In cohort 1(n = 103), most valuable sites skeletal index (SMI) estimation located among 11 scanning sites. An SMI estimating algorithm based on thickness (MT) was obtained modelling group composed 1 2 (n 309). Amdo Tibetans, a devout and cohesive non-industrial society, intertwine religious practices, such as pray, kowtow, pilgrimage, aspect of their private public lives. This unique cultural framework fosters profound connection between practices health behaviors. The primary aim this study was to assess the links (pray, pilgrimage) mental health, well physical activity function among older Tibetans. A cross-sectional field survey conducted involving 538 agropastoral Tibetans aged ≥40, situated in eastern Tibetan Plateau. Evaluated various scales, including psychological well-being (Resilience (SRS-7) Flourish (SFI-12)), distress (Depression (CESD-8) Anxiety (GAD-7), social integration (F_SozU K-6), were assessed, along with objectively measured parameters moderate-vigorous (MVPA), sleep duration, grip strength, gait speed, walking endurance. Multivariable linear regression models used associations. Bonferroni correction applied for multiple testing, adjusting socio-demographic characteristics, status, behavior. revealed significant positive associations participation well-being, integration, self-rated inverse observed distress. MVPA positively correlated daily kowtow. Daily kowtow also showed duration. Background: Sarcopenia is defined as a progressive age-related loss in muscle mass and strength affecting physical performance. It associated with many negative outcomes including falls, disability, cognitive decline, mortality. Protein enriched diet resistance training have shown to improve function but there limited evidence on impact of dual-task exercise possible sarcopenia. Objective: To evaluate community-based sarcopenia by either slow gait (SG) or poor handgrip (HGS). The secondary aims include effect cognition, frailty, social isolation, perceived health. Methods: Community-dwelling older adults ≥60 years old were recruited from screening program intended identify seniors at risk, invited participate called HAPPY (Healthy Aging Promotion Program for You). One hundred eleven participants completed 3 months follow-up. Questionnaire was administered demographics, sarcopenia, health, network, functional, status. Physical performance included assessment HGS, speed, Short Performance Battery test (SPPB). Results: mean age the Exercise group 75.9 73.0% women. had more female (73.0 vs. 47.5%), (75.9 72.5 old), higher prevalence falls (32.4 15.0%), lower BMI (23.7 25.8), education (4.0 7.2 years). speed increased significantly significant reduction SG HGS. All components SPPB well total score while pre-frailty dropped half. risk isolation reduced 25% improvement health cognition group. Significant persisted after adjustment baseline factors. Abstract Background and purpose Motoric cognitive risk (MCR) syndrome characterized by subjective complaints slow gait has been proposed validated as a pre‐dementia syndrome. The overall specific ethnic prevalence of MCR the associated factors are poorly understood in middle‐aged to older community‐dwelling residents west China. Methods present study included 6091 samples from prospective cohort study, West China Health Aging Trend (WCHAT). Multidimensional demography, lifestyle, social support, anthropometrics body components, clinical status were investigated analyzed univariate multivariate logistic regression models. Lasso K‐fold cross‐validation conducted construct most predictive model with fitted factors. Results was 9.74%, ethnically 14.25% Tibetan, 11.03% Yi, 10.72% Han, 5.18% Uighur 4.55% Qiang, respectively. In adjusted models, positively diabetes mellitus (odds ratio [OR] = 1.51, p 0.007), osteoarthritis (OR 1.50, 0.002), depression 1.36, 0.005), poor sleep 1.21, 0.045), comorbidity 1.49, 0.001) falls last 12 months 1.34, 0.031). Of note, every 1‐unit increase value stroke an approximate 3‐fold higher having MCR, whilst high‐density lipoprotein 30% lower MCR,respectively. Abstract: Sarcopenia, an age-related disease characterized by loss of muscle strength and mass, has attracted the attention medical experts due to its severe morbidity, low living quality, high expenditure health care, mortality. Traditionally, persistent aerobic exercise (PAE) is considered as a valid way attenuate muscular atrophy. However, nowadays, intensity interval training (HIIT) emerged more effective time-efficient method replace traditional modes. HIIT displays comprehensive effects on capacity skeletal metabolism, it provides time-out for recovery cardiopulmonary functions without causing adverse effects. Studies demonstrated that compared with PAE, showed similar or even higher in improving strength, enhancing physical performances increasing mass elder people. Therefore, might become promising cope function. worth mentioning no study was conducted directly sarcopenia patients, which attributed suspicious safety validity. In this review, we will assess different parameters sarcopenia, summarize previous papers PAE quality function, evaluate potential status treating old people atrophy modality; point out drawbacks temporary experiments. To investigate the factors associated with sarcopenia in elderly individuals residing nursing homes and community settings, we conducted a systematic search of databases, including MEDLINE, EMBASE, PubMed, Web Science Cochrane, up to May 2023. We incorporated total 70 studies into our analysis. Our findings revealed that prevalence ranged from 25% 73.7%, while it varied 5.2% 62.7%. The both settings included male gender, BMI, malnutrition, osteoarthritis. In these comprised age, poor nutrition status, small calf circumference, smoking, physical inactivity, cognitive impairment, diabetes, depression heart disease. Currently, European Working Group on Sarcopenia Older People (EWGSOP) Asian for (AWGS) standards are widely utilized EWGSOP standard being more applicable homes. Identifying is paramount significance, particularly considering some them can be modified managed. Further research warranted impact preventive measures management among settings.

Background Sarcopenia is an age-related and skeletal muscle disorder involving the loss of mass or strength, physiological function. Although diagnostic indicators used in different guidelines are for mass, strength physical performance, there currently no uniform criteria. Therefore, we aimed to explore relationship between a series biomarkers with sarcopenia southwest China. Methods We included 4302 patients from West China Health Aging Trend (WCHAT) study. was defined according Asian Working Group Sarcopenia: 2019 Consensus Update on Diagnosis Treatment. Thyroxine、albumin、total protein、prealbumin、albumin globulin ratio (A/G)、25(OH)VD、fasting insulin、adrenal cortisol、triglyceride、high-density lipoprotein、hemoglobin aspartate aminotransferase alanine (AST/ALT) were measured. The receiver operating characteristic curves (ROC) established describe predictive value also multivariate logistic regression analysis identify risk factors disease. Results In terms protein state, had lower total protein, albumin, prealbumin, A/G than control ( P &lt;0.001). Patients triglyceride but higher high-density lipoprotein compared healthy lipid metabolism aspect hormone free triiodothyronine, fasting insulin tetraiodothyronine adrenal cortisol level (AUC=0.686) AST/ALT (AUC=0.682) best predictors among biomarkers. performance combined (AUC=0.720) equal multiple (AUC=0.742).
