Physical resilience (PR) is recognized as the ability to recover from adverse effects of a stressor. However, there lack consensus on how optimally measure PR in older adults general. We aimed using residuals regression analyses and investigated its association with outcomes adults.A total 6 508 were included National Health Aging Trends Study, which was population-based prospective cohort study. assessed residual methods linear model regressing short physical performance battery clinical diseases, age, sex, race/ethnicity, health condition. Adverse all-cause mortality, falls, overnight hospitalization. The mean age 77.48 (7.84) years. Increased associated lower risk mortality (hazard ratio [HR] = 0.85, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.83-0.87). Compared participants reduced PR, those normal had for (HR 0.51, CI: 0.46-0.56). Specifically, restricted cubic spline revealed dose-response relationship between (p-overall < .0001, p-nonlinear .011). Additionally, we also found significant associations increased risks falls 0.98, 0.96-0.99) hospitalization 0.97-1.00).PR, measured by methods, robustly independently hospitalization. Our findings provide evidence that this approach may be simple feasible strategy assess PR.

The global extension of human lifespan has intensified the focus on aging, yet its underlying mechanisms remain inadequately understood. article highlights aspects genetic susceptibility to impaired brain bioenergetics, trends in age-related gene expression related neuroinflammation and senescence, impact stem cell exhaustion quiescence accelerated aging. We also review accumulation senescent cells, mitochondrial dysfunction, metabolic disturbances as central pathological processes emphasizing how these factors contribute inflammation disrupt cellular competition defining aging trajectory. Furthermore, we discuss emerging therapeutic strategies future potential integrating advanced technologies refine assessments. combination several methods including analysis, neuroimaging techniques, cognitive tests digital twins, offer a novel approach by simulating monitoring individual health trajectories, thereby providing more accurate personalized insights. Conclusively, estimation trajectories is crucial for understanding managing processes, potentially transforming preventive improve outcomes populations.

The number of older adults is growing rapidly worldwide, and many surgical diseases are prevalent in this population. Resilience, the ability to adapt positively adversity, remains a multisystemic process with no standardized objective measurement methods. aim study was identify association between resilience components frailty, postoperative complications, quality life changes after pancreatectomy patients. This evaluated patients (aged ≥ 65) scheduled for August 2020 December 2023. Patients who underwent Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment signed informed consent were included. Frailty determined by multidimensional frailty score more than 5. Neurohumoral measured using ACTH stimulation test, cardiovascular autonomic function orthostatic blood pressure measurement, cognitive-motor dual-task gait tests. primary outcome secondary deterioration one year pancreatectomy. A total 57 included analysis. Among them, 17 (29.8%) classified as frail, 10 (17.5%) experienced 12 (24.5%) had worsened year. Low slow usual speed associated frailty. Diminished cortisol responsiveness correlated complications. Quality differences (serial 7) fast speed. highlights potential multidomain components, clinical outcomes undergoing Future research should focus on developing robust, objective, reliable metrics use.

Abstract Background In recent years, researchers have been examining the impact of work-life balance (WLB) on mental health, considering it as a potential risk factor. However, remains unclear whether traditional understanding WLB applies to older adults who worked for fewer hours before full retirement and whose children are likely be independent adults. Therefore, this study aims propose modified form specifically Within context, we hypothesize that an optimum between working social engagement protects against depressive symptoms among Method We conducted analysis using data 5,751 Korean than 55 years from Longitudinal Study Aging 2016. Multivariate logistic regression was used evaluate relationships hours, engagement, symptoms. Results Older 35 h per week were less experience non-working those or more week. Additionally, with high level informal participation, thus occurring almost every day two three times week, low such participation (once month less). Furthermore, frequent engaged in compared individuals participation. Conclusions Maintaining optimal number degree necessary minimize Based these findings, suggest fulfillment work life their important work–life balance.

Abstract Background Anxiety disorders in middle-aged and older adults are an important public health concern China. Based on the data global disease burden (GDB) research database, this study evaluated analyzed trend of patients living with anxiety China past 30 years. Methods The incidence disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) for individuals aged 45–89 were collected from Global Burden Disease Study 2019, effects age, period, cohort DALY rate analysed using age-period-cohort model. Because COVID-19 pandemic, database has not been updated since 2019. However, did affect analysis future trends study, which combined three decades 1990 to Results (1) overall age-standardised (ASIR) (ASDR) decreased by 4.0 7.7% respectively, ASIR ASDR always higher women than men. (2)Age-period-cohort showed that net drifts − 0.27% 0.55% per year, respectively. For both genders, local lower zero those 45–79 80–89 years; all groups. (3) From 1990–1994 2015–2019, relative risks disorder 5.6 7.3% men 4.3 11.7% women, Conclusion relieved over however, recent ASDR, have shown adverse trends. age while a increasing first decreasing afterwards.
