Abstract Interest in nanomaterials and especially nanoparticles has exploded the past decades primarily due to their novel or enhanced physical chemical properties compared bulk material. These extraordinary have created a multitude of innovative applications fields medicine pharma, electronics, agriculture, catalysis, food industry, many others. More recently, are also being synthesized ‘biologically’ through use plant- microorganism-mediated processes, as an environmentally friendly alternative expensive, energy-intensive, potentially toxic synthesis methods. This transdisciplinary approach nanoparticle requires that biologists biotechnologists understand learn complex methodology needed properly characterize these processes. review targets bio-oriented audience summarizes physico–chemical nanoparticles, methods used for characterization. It highlights why different micro- materials. We try provide comprehensive overview classes physicochemical including mechanical, thermal, magnetic, electronic, optical, catalytic properties. A list common techniques characterization analysis is presented together with large examples biogenic been previously characterized, application medicine, production. hope this makes more accessible readers, help identifying proper any given nanoscience problem.

In the current scenario, it is an urgent requirement to satisfy nutritional demands of rapidly growing global population. Using conventional farming, nearly one third crops get damaged, mainly due pest infestation, microbial attacks, natural disasters, poor soil quality, and lesser nutrient availability. More innovative technologies are immediately required overcome these issues. this regard, nanotechnology has contributed agrotechnological revolution that imminent potential reform resilient agricultural system while promising food security. Therefore, nanoparticles becoming a new-age material transform modern practices. The variety nanoparticle-based formulations, including nano-sized pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, fertilizers, sensors, have been widely investigated for plant health management improvement. In-depth understanding nanomaterial interactions opens new avenues toward improving crop practices through increased properties such as disease resistance, yield, utilization. review, we highlight critical points address nanotechnology-based research could benefit productivity security in future.

Abstract Mineral phosphorus (P) fertilizers support high crop yields and contribute to feeding the teeming global population. However, complex edaphic processes cause P be immobilized in soil, hampering its timely sufficient availability for uptake by plants. The resultant low use efficiency of current water-soluble creates significant environmental human health problems. Current practices increase have been inadequate curtail these We advocate understanding plant physiological processes, such as requirement, storage excess phytate, mechanisms, identify novel ways designing delivering plants improved uptake. note importance implications contrasting role micronutrients zinc iron stimulating under soil content, while inhibiting fertilization; this could provide an avenue managing different fertilization regimes. argue that improvement nutritional value crops, especially cereals, through reduced phytic acid increased contents should among most important drivers toward development innovative fertilizer products technologies. Mineral fertilizers are key to food production, despite plant low nutrient uptake efficiencies and high losses. However, nanotechnology can both enhance crop productivity reduce This has raised interest in nanoscale nanoenabled bulk fertilizers, hence the concept of nanofertilizers. Nevertheless, large-scale industrial production nanofertilizers is yet be realized. Here, we highlight science-based evidence outstanding concerns for motivating fertilizer industry nanofertilizers, including notion toxicity associated with materials; scant nanofertilizer research nutrients; inadequacy soil- or field-based studies nanofertilizers; type nanomaterials produce as fertilizers; how efficiently effectively apply at field scale; economics It anticipated that development validation nondisruptive existing systems will motivate industry's involvement
