Obesity is a major global health concern related to chronic diseases and rising healthcare costs. While previous studies focused on diet habits, environmental issues, physical activity, financial literacy remains an overlooked factor in weight management. This study examined the relationship between body mass index (BMI), using as proxy for rational decision-making. A quantitative approach was employed, where linear regression analyzed BMI continuous variable probit assessed overweight, normal weight, underweight categories. nationwide survey, Preference Parameter Study, conducted by Osaka University, Japan, United States, provided data this study. The results indicate significant negative association BMI, with higher linked lower greater likelihood of maintaining weight. key control variables, including impatience, gender, education, income, smoking, also significantly affected BMI. These findings reflect strong correlation status; however, due limitations, causal inferences could not be made. We acknowledge potential endogeneity cross-sectional nature limitations. Thus, while our suggest role promoting behavior, policy implications should interpreted caution. Future research explore targeted interventions across various demographic groups maximize impact.
