Abstract Emotional dysregulation is a key transdiagnostic dimension of several clinical conditions, including eating disorders (EDs) and gender dysphoria (GD). Not only there frequent comorbidity between EDs GD, but GD individuals also commonly experience ED symptoms body-image disturbances. However, more research needed to understand how specific body-related experiences may differently interact with difficulties in emotion regulation dysfunctional behaviors GD. Thus, the present study aimed at exploring potential associations emotional symptomatology diagnosed anorexia nervosa (AN), bulimia (BN), or (GD), considering mediating role dimensions body uneasiness. A national sample N = 96 help-seekers assigned female birth ( n 32 AN, BN, GD) was recruited from two specialized care centers. Participants completed Eating Disorder Inventory-3 (EDI-3) Body Uneasiness Test (BUT), while Shedler-Westen Assessment Procedure–200 (SWAP-200) used evaluate dysregulation. Adolescence is a developmental period marked by vulnerabilities where psychological distress often manifests through the body. Restrictive Eating Disorders (REDs), Non-Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI), and Suicide Attempts (SAs) represent distinct yet overlapping expressions of this phenomenon. This cross-sectional study compared 60 adolescents (20 for each group) aged 12-18 across these groups using comprehensive multimethod assessment, including Kiddie Schedule Affective Schizophrenia (K-SADS-PL), Structured Clinical Interview DSM-5 Personality (SCID-5-PD), Rorschach Performance Assessment System (R-PAS). The RED group exhibited highest obsessive-compulsive symptoms distorted interpersonal representations linked to perfectionism body image concerns. R-PAS scores highlighted disorganized thinking maladaptive self other perceptions. NSSI displayed significant borderline traits, emotion regulation deficits, impressionistic responses, with elevated indices reflecting defensiveness vulnerability emotional distress. SA showed severe depressive symptoms, dysregulation, impaired thought organization, lowest functional (CGAS). Across all groups, adverse childhood experiences interpretations stimuli emerged as common factors, supporting shared vulnerability. provides nuanced understanding bodily integrating structured interviews, personality assessments, performance-based tools. Introduction Outcome research in eating disorders (EDs) is commonly focused on psychopathological dysfunction. However, Ryff’s model of psychological well-being (PWB) has shown promising—yet preliminary—results with ED patients. Additionally, despite substantial evidence highlighting the association between therapeutic alliance and treatment outcome, findings samples remain unclear. The present study aimed at exploring direct effect PWB dimensions early patients’ individual responses, as well mediating role played by relationship overall pre-post symptom change. Methods A sample N = 165 patients assigned female birth, who were receiving a residential program, completed Psychological Well-Being Scale intake Working Alliance Inventory after first four psychotherapy sessions. <i>This paper examines the phenomenology of diagnostic crossover in eating disorders, movement within or between feeding and disorder subtypes diagnoses over time, two young women who experienced multiple changes diagnosis 5 years. Using interpretative phenomenological analysis, this study found that transitioning different labels, specifically bulimia nervosa anorexia binge/purge subtype, was as disempowering, stigmatizing, unhelpful.
