Abstract
Given
the
frequency
of
harmful
interactions
between
policing
personnel
and
young
people,
especially
Black
there
is
a
need
for
to
learn
how
promote
safe
equitable
with
people.
We
conducted
individual
interviews
35
YP
(15-22
years)
focus
group
discussions
50
police
representing
multiple
ranks/roles.
Results
indicated
that
both
people
view
four
practices
as
essential:
respect,
communication
skills,
empathy/understanding,
engaging
in
non-enforcement
contexts.
Young
wanted
less
use
force,
more
cultural
sensitivity
anti-racism,
recognition
youth
positive
behavior.
Some
felt
nothing
could
remediate
youth-police
ruptures.
And
noted
importance
having
mindset
general
using
developmentally
appropriate
language
Though
groups
had
reservations
overall,
envisioned
future
where
they
interact
positively.
If
these
two
diverse
can
see
room
growth
possibility,
we
should
support
efforts
achieve
relations
personnel.

This
paper
explores
the
challenges
and
potentials
of
integrating
critical
theories
racism
with
quantitative
methods
in
German
context,
where
term
"racism"
has
only
recently
gained
broader
acceptance

discourse.

Racism
is
frequently
mentioned
as
a
social
determinant
of
migrants'
health
and
barrier
to
services.
However,
in
the
European
context,
racism

impact
on
racialized
access
healthcare
remarkably
under-researched.
This
scoping
review
makes
first
step
toward
filling
this
void
by
mapping
existing
literature
racial
ethnic
discrimination
against
migrants
Europe,

gaps,

recommendations
for

were

Decades

disparities
