Subacute thyroiditis (SAT) is a thyroid disease associated with viral infections. Its relationship major histocompatibility complex (MHC) antigens was shown before. SAT cases triggered by different types of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccines have been reported. In this study, human leukocyte antigen (HLA) genotypes 27 patients (13 vaccine-associated (V-SAT) and 14 non-SARS-CoV-2-infection non-vaccine-associated (non-V-SAT)) were compared those 362 healthy donors. HLA analyses performed low-resolution DNA-based sequence-specific oligonucleotide or primer methods. Statistical using IBM SPSS Statistics 25 Stata/MP 14.1 the hapipf function. Allele haplotype frequencies estimated PyPop gene[RATE] tool programs. The allele HLA-A*11, HLA-B*35, HLA-C*04 higher in patient groups. Both frequency HLA-A*11 A*11-B*35-C*04 V-SAT group. haplotype, including all three loci MHC class I genes, to be for first time, especially This finding will contribute better understanding etiopathogenesis role functioning mechanisms SARS-CoV-2 vaccines.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to describe the current knowledge on potential endocrine adverse effects post-COVID-19 vaccines. Methods A PubMed/MEDLINE, Web Science, and Scopus research performed. Case reports, case series, original studies, reviews written in English published online up 31 July 2022 were selected reviewed. final reference list defined based relevance each paper scope review. Results available data showed that side are generally rare with favorable outcome, being thyroid disorders most common. Conversely, type 1 diabetes mellitus rare; adrenal pituitary events even anecdotal. Finally, clinical studies suggest no impact female reproductive system male couple fertility. Conclusion Overall, these show that, after 2 years COVID-19 vaccines, is not heavily threatened.

Abstract Background The development of an effective vaccine is a powerful tool to contain the global spread coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Still, it raises potential safety concerns about subsequent enhancement associated immunopathology. Increasing evidence shows that endocrine system, including hypophysis, may be involved in COVID-19. Moreover, occasional but increasing reports disorders involving thyroid have been reported after severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccine. Among them, few cases encompass pituitary. Here we report rare case central diabetes insipidus following SARS-CoV-2 vaccination. Case presentation We 59-year-old female patient with 25-year history Crohn's long-term remission, who presented sudden onset polyuria eight weeks administration mRNA Laboratory evaluation was consistent isolated insipidus. Magnetic resonance imaging displayed involvement infundibulum and posterior hypophysis. Eighteen months vaccination, she still under desmopressin treatment had stable pituitary stalk thickening on magnetic imaging. Although disease-associated hypophysitis has reported, scarce. In absence other recognizable causes hypophysitis, believe hypophysis our triggered by Conclusions potentially Further studies are needed understand better mechanisms underlying autoimmune endocrinopathies context COVID-19 infection

Subacute thyroiditis (SAT) can be triggered by several viral factors in genetically predisposed individuals. In the case of COVID-19, SAT induced SARS-CoV-2 infection as well COVID-19 vaccination. The aim this study was to present two cases mRNA-based vaccines, with special attention paid possible significance HLA-related susceptibility. our patients, a strong similarity HLA profiles regard not only high-risk alleles but also other SAT-unrelated ones observed. rare phenomenon occurrence after vaccination HLA-dependent and related co-presence HLA-B*35:03 -C*04:01. Taking into account both alleles, such HLA-A*03:01, -DQA1:01, DQB1*05:01 some HLA-DRB1, play role. This hypothesis is strongly consistent autoimmune/inflammatory syndrome adjuvants (ASIA) being postulated mechanism post-vaccine reaction, ASIA-related immune reactions are directly associated HLA-based genetic Further research necessary confirm these findings.

Abstract Context Several case reports of Graves’ disease (GD) occurrence after COVID-19 vaccination that are possibly related to the autoimmune syndrome induced by adjuvants (ASIA) were published recently. Objective The aim our study was evaluate possible distinctive features in presentation and clinical course patients with GD occurring early (within 4 weeks) who attended Endocrine Unit 2021. Methods Patients a first episode attending tertiary endocrine center between January 1, 2021, December 31, included. Results Sixty-four seen 2021: 20 (31.2%) them had onset within weeks following vaccine administration. Compared other 44 patients, postvaccine early-onset (PoVEO) older (median age 51 years vs 35 years, P = .003) more likely be male (40.0% 13.6%, .018). At diagnosis, biochemical immune profiles similar 2 groups. However, at 3 months starting methimazole, PoVEO significantly lower thyrotropin receptor antibody titer taking doses methimazole than GD. None group sustained free triiodothyronine elevation. Conclusion This relatively large series suggests 2021 may new nosologic entity representing one-third evaluated for new-onset center. Distinctive included onset, higher prevalence, better initial immunologic response treatment. Further studies warranted clinically biochemically differentiate these cases from sporadically

Abstract Background Cases of subacute thyroiditis (SAT) after severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccination have been reported. A human leukocyte antigen (HLA) allele, HLA-B*35 , appears to be involved in the pathogenesis SAT. Case presentation We conducted HLA typing one patient with SAT and another both Graves’ disease (GD), which developed SARS-CoV-2 vaccination. Patient 1, a 58-year-old Japanese man, was inoculated vaccine (BNT162b2; Pfizer, New York, NY, USA). He fever (38 °C), cervical pain, palpitations, fatigue on day 10 Blood chemistry tests revealed thyrotoxicosis elevated serum C-reactive protein (CRP) slightly increased antithyroid-stimulating antibody (TSAb) levels. Thyroid ultrasonography characteristic findings 2, 36-year-old woman, twice (mRNA-1273; Moderna, Cambridge, MA, She (37.8 °C) thyroid gland pain 3 second CRP, TSAb, hormone receptor Fever persisted. (i.e., slight swelling focal hypoechoic area decreased blood flow). Prednisolone treatment effective for However, causing palpitations relapsed thereafter, scintigraphy 99m technetium pertechnetate conducted, diagnosed GD. Thiamazole then initiated, led improvement symptoms. Conclusion that patients had HLA-B*35:01 -C*04:01 -DPB1*05:01 alleles. Only HLA-DRB1*11:01 HLA-DQB1*03:01 The HLA-C*04:01 alleles appeared vaccination, were speculated postvaccination

Abstract Thyroglobulin (TG) is a dimeric glycoprotein produced exclusively by mature thyroid tissue and stored within the follicular lumen. It essential for organification of iodine production hormones. The concentration TG in bloodstream varies between individuals depends on factors such as mass, stimulation gland thyrotropin or autoantibodies, destruction. to monitor patients with differentiated cancer; however, its use not limited only this clinical entity. Measurement circulating can provide better insight into numerous scenarios, destructive thyroiditis, presence ectopic tissue, trauma, factitious thyrotoxicosis, nutrition. Lately, has found new immune checkpoint-related dysfunction. measurement should be performed carefully antithyroglobulin antibodies due possible laboratory interferences. In review, we offer summary current knowledge about implications it brings daily practice.
