Synchronous molecular fluorescence with multivariate calibration was investigated to assay seven polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and three oxygenated derivatives (O-PAHs) in printer toner. Great sensitivity a good data compression capacity were achieved; therefore, relatively small number of factors used. Correlation coefficients above 0.95 for the functions obtained, recoveries lie between 70 130% analyzing synthetic samples (13 PCs). For real assayed, 81 125% obtained when compared results by gas chromatography – tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS). Despite certain loss accuracy chromatography, proposed methodology is faster, simpler, lower cost. The tool proved be an expeditious alternative screening toner relation presence abundance PAHs derivatives.

There is ample evidence from occupational studies that exposure to a mixture of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) causally associated with an increased incidence lung cancers. In both atmospheres and ambient air, PAHs are present as many compounds, but the composition in air differs atmosphere, varies time space air. Estimates cancer risk for PAH mixtures based upon unit risks which derive extrapolation data or animal model data, case WHO use one compound, benzo[a]pyrene marker entire mixture, irrespective composition. The increase of production and consumption persistently introduce different pollutants into the environment. constant development improvement analytical methods for tracking environmental contaminants are essential. demand high sample throughput analysis has hit spotlight developing selective sensors to avoid time-consuming preparation techniques. In addition, sensor’s sensitivity should satisfy rigorous demands harmful compound tracking. Molecularly imprinted plasmonic-based excellent candidates overcome selectivity issues. polymers robust, stable in aqueous organic solvents, at extreme pHs temperatures, include a low-cost synthesis procedure. Combined with techniques, they perspective choice applications field protection. Plasmonic-based offer lower limit detection, broad linearity range, sensitivity, compared other detection This review outlines optical plasmonic molecularly as sensing elements. main focus is on affecting human animal health, such pesticides, pharmaceuticals, hormones, microorganisms, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, dyes, metal particles. The chemical group comprising polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) has received prolonged evaluation and scrutiny in the past several decades. PAHs are ubiquitous carcinogenic pollutants pose a significant threat to human health through their environmental prevalence distribution. Regardless of origin, natural or anthropogenic, generally stem from incomplete combustion organic materials. Dietary intake, one main routes exposure PAHs, is modulated by pre-existing food contamination (air, water, soil) formation accumulation during processing. To this end, processing techniques cooking options entailing thermal treatment carry additional weight determining PAH levels final product. With background provided, study aims provide an improved understanding occurrence meat, edible oils, cereal products. factors influencing formation, including operational conditions parameters, product composition, storage settings, described. discussion also addresses reduction directions with respect informing choice employed technique, fuel type, time–temperature ingredient variations. Considering disparities caused wide variations contamination, challenges associated control requirements outlined context relevant preventive approaches

Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) represent persistent environmental pollutants ubiquitously distributed in the environment. Their presence alongside various other contaminants gives rise to intricate interactions, culminating profound deleterious consequences. The combination effects of different PAH mixtures on biota remains a relatively unexplored domain. Recent studies have harnessed exceptional sensitivity metabolomic techniques unveil significant ecotoxicological perils pollution confronting both human populations and ecosystems. This article furnishes comprehensive overview current literature focused metabolic repercussions stemming from exposure complex PAHs or PAH-pollution sources using metabolomics approaches. These insights are obtained through wide range models, including vitro assessments, animal studies, investigations subjects, botanical specimens, soil environments. findings underscore that induce cellular stress responses systemic effects, leading dysregulations amino acids, carbohydrates, lipids, key metabolites (e.g., organic purines), with specific variations observed based organism compounds involved. Biochar applied into the soil is recommended as an effective tool for increasing its properties and crop productivity. However, biochar can contain some potentially toxic compounds such polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Moreover, during production or environmental application (e.g. fertilizer), more PAHs derivatives containing nitrogen, oxygen sulfur be formed. There a lack of information on how factors affect bioavailability long-term BC soil. In presented studies effects physical (freeze-thaw cycles) chemical aging (temperatures 60 °C 90 °C) total bioavailable content their were estimated. The results indicate that (6 months) affected physicochemical characteristic biochars promoting formation new C O-containing species surface polarity hydrophilicity. Physical promoted with higher molecular weight significant (up to 550 %) increase in derivatives. this study highlight importance fraction evaluation toxicity aged biochar.

Polycyclic aromatic compounds (PACs), including polycyclic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and heteroatom-containing analogues, constitute an important environmental contaminant class. For decades, limited numbers of priority PAHs have been routinely targeted in pollution investigations, however, there is growing awareness for the potential occurrence thousands PACs environment. In this study, untargeted Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry was used molecular characterisation a sediment core from Chiswick Ait, River Thames, London, UK. Using complex mixture analysis approaches, aromaticity index calculations, number PAC components determined eight depths, extending back to 1930s. A maximum 1676 compositions representing detected at depth corresponding 1950s, decline observed up core. case linking London's coal consumption history presented, alongside other possible sources, with some data features indicating pyrogenic origins. The overall profile trend components, oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen, chlorine atoms, shown broadly correspond 16 PAH concentration previously These findings implications industry-impacted environments.

Atmospheric polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are associated with adverse health effects in exposed populations. Understanding PAH pollution ambient air and its impacts is essential for developing effective actions combating pollution. This review paper summarised discussed the findings of research work that determined concentrations, distribution sequence, risk exposure levels atmospheric PAHs cities worldwide. It also gave an overview sources methodology appraising to PAHs. Eighty-five articles published peer-reviewed journals from 2010 2023 were identified academic databases, 55 reporting on PAHs, while 30 evaluated air.
