Urbanisation affects the water cycle and heat balance in a negative way. Vegetated roofs have potential to minimise effects of urbanisation. A scoping review is presented here examine how vegetated are being evolved as an effective tool sustainable urban stormwater management overall development. It has been found that research on increasing significantly it can contribute towards achieving multiple development goals (SDGs). also uptake slow. lack regulatory acceptance caused by absence experimental data subsequent knowledge gap establishing effectiveness major reasons behind this slow uptake. Future their evolutions should put focus gathering performance benchmark for detention, retention quality settings. Such be utilised developing stand-alone guideline software green roof design.

The Federal University of Technology at Akure (FUTA) in Nigeria is experiencing ongoing development that leading to the replacement agricultural and forestry land cover types. This study aimed assess predict changes use/land (LULC) types their impact on crop characteristics 17 plots FUTA from 1991 2031. Crop were evaluated using normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), water (NDWI), moisture (NDMI), condition (VCI), watershed delineation, spectral Landsat imageries. change modeler TerraSet software was used future LULC scenarios. Results showed an increase built-up areas (15%) bare (14%), but a reduction 19% light 2021. predicted map illustrated decrease area (11%) (19%) NDVI values denoting health coverage extent, NDWI & NDMI indicating stress soil palm tree (Plot 1) had highest average indices (0.31, 0.34, 0.06, respectively), while mixed cropping cassava, cashew, potatoes 6) lowest (0.23, 0.28, −0.029 respectively). indicates Plot 1 (palm tree) better with higher green canopy lower compared 6 (cassava, potato vegetation). Drought analysis (VCI) drought became severe during 2001–2021 Plots 4 6. growing accelerated severity. advocates for sustainable use management manage field level.

Assessing ecosystem services values (ESV) within land use/land cover (LULC) changes is crucial for promoting human well-being and sustainable development of regional ecosystems. Yet, the spatial relationship between LULC still unclear in Yemen. This study aimed to assess impacts on ESV Ibb City, over three decades (1990–2020), predict 2050. The hybrid use classification technique classifying Landsat images, CA-Markov model prediction, benefit transfer method (BTM) assessment were employed. Our findings revealed that there was a continuous increase built-up areas barren land, with decrease cultivated grassland, which are predicted continue next 30 years. Consequently, total has decreased from US$ 68.5 × 106 1990 65.2 2020 expected further reduce 61.2 by 2050, reflecting impact urban expansion socio-economic activities ESV. provides insights future monitoring, will contribute formulation effective land-use strategies more services, particularly rapidly urbanizing data-limited regions.

We live in an urban planet. As the world continues to urbanize, development that support health and wellbeing of city dwellers is far more important than ever before achieve sustainable targets. This study explores complex relationship among planning, growth, as critical drivers rapidly growing nodal Akure, Nigeria. The provides a four-decade spatio-temporal model Land Use Cover (LULC) changes Akure between years 1984 2023 from acquired Landsat satellite imageries. result shows 20% net change increase developed LULC classes years. A strong positive correlation exists covered analyses ( r = 0.93, p 0.002), negative with forest land use −0.94, 0.002) potential debilitating impacts on residents’ health, green infrastructures city’s sustainability future. Furthermore, results key informant interviews (KIIs) officials Ministry Physical Planning Urban Development (MPPUD) Ondo State, unveil various views “place health” planning practices Akure. lack synergy planners public practitioners limiting scope functions impact were observed. Thus, we recommend integration approach guide manage city.

It used MOLUSCE tool predicting land 2020, 2025, 2030. objectives this are 1) To compare 2010,2015 2) analyze verify tool’s performance (MOLUSCE). 3) identify effect which evented 2015 on 2020,2025 results were: 1/the effects 2010 showed accuracy reliability due to low before conflict region. 2/the were negative did not support logical trend toward progress where it is natural that human element progresses increasing construction. 3/identify prediction (2020,2025,2030) affected by events conflict, images.

The Mekong Delta faces significant challenges in supplying Vietnam and its export market countries with agricultural commodities, while ensuring livelihoods providing living space to growing population the context of climate change country's agrarian transition. Anthropogenic factors, such as construction dykes control river flooding, sand mining, further development triple-cropping rice production, infrastructure development, together impacts on sediment water availability, are all combining threaten production. One key sustainable is need identify plausible future states agricultural-based socio-ecological systems which draw upon differing strategies land management, characterise these both landscape employment. It was hypothesised from literature rapid rural appraisals that each system can only provide a certain number jobs, demonstrated using binomial regressions. We show odds being employed lower for intensive (OR=0.78 triple rice; 0.91 aquaculture) than diversified (OR=1.16 rice-aquaculture; OR=1.63 mixed fruit trees). Drawing workshops local national stakeholders, we then used Earth observation census data spatial use dynamic framework simulate two alternative futures based pathway RCP 4.5 combination existing policies (i) Resolution No. 124 (Specialisation) promotes crop aquaculture intensification (ii) 639 (Diversification), there should be diversification. Based quantitative objectives policy, estimated likely changes services provided by if either policy were dominate. scenario provision employment ultimately indicate diversification paradigm will more (+0.9%) specialisation (−46%), current have potentially conflicting consequences. Decisions driving towards farming risk triggering unemployment outmigration, exacerbating urban poverty major cities Can Tho Ho Chi Minh City. On other hand, decisions aiming at increasing help secure job opportunities. Our results planning rely broad-based assessment include environmental ensure just transition resilient environmentally territories.
