Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a spice widely used worldwide. It has been in the treatment and prevention of diseases since ancient times. During harvesting storage, turmeric exposed to contamination by different fungi that are responsible for mycotoxins production. Mycobiota associated with spices samples were screened this study. Aspergillus was dominant genus, it recorded an average total counts 4.76 log colony-forming unit/g, appeared all 40 tested samples. Molecular identification internal transcribed spacer sequence identify species. The common species flavus (with 80% frequency occurrence) niger (100%). Twelve 20 contaminated aflatoxins (AFs) ochratoxins A (OTA) concentrations 1.8-2.8 3.3-4.6 Parts Per Billioni (PPB), respectively. search suitable alternative antimicrobial drug resistance increased, led researchers explore use plant extract infections both humans animals. activity two (sample no. 13 positive AFs OTA, sample 2 no toxins) on selected Candida albicans, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus evaluated. Different types extracts prepared using three solvents namely water, methanol, ethanol disc diffusion method. showed inhibition against microorganisms. zones exhibited methanol solvent from test organisms more effective ranged 10.6 15.4 mm. This due confusion between its positively content.
