Abstract Candida infections have become a growing concern to the immunocompromised patients with cancer. We report case of liver abscess causing tropicalis candidemia in an patient pancreatic head cancer on 68 Ga-FAPI PET/CT. A 77-year-old man had history 10-year duration uncontrolled diabetes, presence neutropenia, condition, and progression despite 14 cycles chemotherapy palliative radiotherapy. After 3 weeks radiotherapy, he presented fever elevated CRP level. PET/CT scan showed new intense uptake liver, 2 pairs blood culture revealed C. tropicalis.

Candida auris has been identified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a critical priority pathogen on its latest list of fungi. C. infections are reported in bloodstream and less commonly cerebrospinal fluid abdomen, with mortality rates that range between 30% 72%. However, no large-scale epidemiology studies have until now. The diagnosis can be challenging, particularly when employing conventional techniques. This impede early detection outbreaks implementation appropriate control measures. yeast easily spread patients healthcare settings through contaminated environments or equipment, where it survive for extended periods. Invasive candidiasis is a common fungal infection associated with multiple risk factors, such as cancer, neutropenia, corticosteroid therapy, catheterization, and the use of broad-spectrum antibiotic treatment. Candida albicans predominant causative agent, although other species have been emerging in last years, together rise number strains resistant to currently available antifungal drugs, which poses challenge when treating these infections. Drug repurposing drug combinations are promising strategies for treatment invasive mycoses. In this study, we evaluated effect combination fluconazole (FLZ) cyclosporine A (CsA) against 39 clinical isolates reference Candida. Two methods, Loewe additivity model Bliss independence model, were used assess activity according CLSI EUCAST guidelines. The results demonstrated synergistic between 15–17 isolates, depending on evaluation used, including FLZ-resistant C. albicans, glabrata, parapsilosis, tropicalis. Notably, significantly reduced minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) FLZ substantial those resistance FLZ. Additionally, time–kill curve studies confirmed interaction, further validating potential an alternative therapeutic strategy These findings emphasize importance investigating innovative address challenges posed by improve options

The emergence of non-albicans Candida as a potential causative agent candidiasis following albicans is occurring globally. It known that phenolic cresols, thymol, and carvacrol have anti-Candida characteristics. However, there are few papers disclose the mechanism action, which characterized by damaged cell wall ergosterol synthesis, well calcium-induced death in C. albicans. This work utilized in-silico docking analysis to examine molecular targets thymol glabrata. results were then validated vitro antifungal susceptibility testing growth curve analysis. study incorporated glabrata deletion mutants for target proteins gain understanding function these effects two monoterpenoids.
