Abstract The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) require the implementation of 167 targets aimed at eradicating poverty, protecting planet and improving quality life humankind. United Nations calls for uniform sustainable development global, local individual levels. This research pursues a twofold objective: first, to obtain evidence on extent which achievement may be across territories; second, identify socioeconomic characteristics that contribute development. empirical analysis has been carried out using clustering, cross efficiency contingency tables applied statistical information from 101 municipalities in Spain Italy. results provide inequalities between territories, revealing only dimensions People (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) Prosperity 7, 8, 9, 10, 11) desired homogeneity attained.
