Over time, many pediatric inpatient clinicians describe an increase in the workload involved caring for hospitalized patients. This perception is supported by data highlighting increased census and acuity of this patient population. As more hospitals close their units, care children increasingly centralized at larger children's hospitals, placing demand on a shrinking number beds.1 In placed hospital medicine (PHM) service, as workforce other subspecialties, who may previously have admitted own patients, continues to decline.2 recent years, medical complexity population has also grown substantially, increasing time effort required day-to-day management.3 resulted steadily enlarging volumes complex patients PHM services.Pediatric residents constitute significant portion workforce, these nationwide trends impacted educational clinical experiences. Meeting needs with resident staffing further complicated ongoing changes how allocated rotations. The Accreditation Council Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) sets program requirements both residency fellowship training. evolved include work hour restrictions, training, individualization categorical curriculum. most major revision requirements, which goes into effect July 2025, will redistribute residents' toward outpatient subspecialty individualized institutions, result notable decrease especially services.4 Potential impacts could demands advanced practice providers inpatients, admissions retain under new frequent handoffs among or clinicians. Their study examines role team assistants (CTAs) extending physician efforts resident-based hospitalist-only teams.7 authors found that CTAs identified numerous ways assist physicians throughout day, including facilitating family-centered rounds, coordinating discharge plans, requesting information from primary pediatricians systems, gathering studies, they observed overwhelmingly positive response CTA involvement hospitalists.7 By offloading predominantly administrative tasks, teams were able shift focus decision-making. Background Medical education, already demanding, has been further strained by the COVID-19 pandemic's challenges and shift to distance learning. This context underscores need for effective stress reduction techniques in competency-based medical curricula (CBMC). Objective We assessed feasibility benefits of integrating a Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) module—a known stress-reducing technique—into time-restricted CBMC, particularly given such modules often find placement as elective rather than mandatory. Methods Adapting Gagne's nine events instruction, 2-h PMR program was designed implemented during pandemic. Twenty participants were engaged on first-come, first-served basis, ensuring adherence social distancing measures. Feedback continuously gathered, leading two post-program focus group sessions. Qualitative data underwent thematic analysis following Braun Clarke's approach, with study quality maintained Standards Reporting Research (SRQR). To gauge adaptability, we aligned various learning outcomes frameworks explored its fit within CBMC using Bourdieu's Theory Practice. Results The pilot well-received effectively incorporated into our CBMC. Our revealed five central themes tied PMR's impact: Self-control, Self-realization, Liberation, Awareness, Interpersonal relationships. indicated program's capacity mitigate SRQR confirmed study's alignment qualitative research standards. Further, contents resonated principal domains outcomes, integration supported Theory. These observations led us propose Integrative Psychological Resilience Model Practice (IPRMP), model that captures intricate interplay between identified psychological constructs. Conclusion showcases an innovative, theory-guided approach embed wellbeing accentuating role fostering resilience among students. offers feasible, cost-effective strategy suitable global adoption institutions. By instilling advanced stress-management techniques, ensures upcoming healthcare professionals are better equipped manage crises like pandemics efficiently.
