Periodontal disease is an inflammatory and destructive of tissues supporting the tooth. A large number studies have confirmed that periodontal pathogens their metabolites can lead to adverse pregnancy outcomes in direct or indirect ways. Adverse outcomes, such as preterm birth, low birth weight, pre-eclampsia, a serious impact on human reproductive health. In recent years, although level global medical technology has gradually improved, incidence not declined still public health problem. The purpose this review summarize current data including association between pathogenic mechanism related association, efficacy different nutrition supplements for both effect providing treatment occurrence provide guidance prevention clinical practice.

The growing nanoparticulate pollution (e.g. engineered nanoparticles (NPs) or nanoplastics) has been shown to pose potential threats human health. In particular, sensitive populations such as pregnant women and their unborn children need be protected from harmful environmental exposures. However, developmental toxicity prenatal exposure particles is not yet well studied despite evidence of particle accumulation in placenta. Our study aimed investigate how copper oxide NPs (CuO NPs; 10–20 nm) polystyrene nanoplastics (PS 70 impact on gene expression ex vivo perfused placental tissue. Whole genome microarray analysis revealed changes global profile after 6 h perfusion with sub-cytotoxic concentrations CuO (10 µg/mL) PS (25 µg/mL). Pathway ontology enrichment the differentially expressed genes suggested that trigger distinct cellular response While induced pathways related angiogenesis, protein misfolding heat shock responses, affected inflammation iron homeostasis. observed effects misfolding, cytokine signaling, hormones were corroborated by western blot (accumulation polyubiquitinated proteins) qPCR analysis. Overall, results present extensive material-specific interference a single short-term which deserves increasing attention. addition, placenta, often neglected studies, should key focus future safety assessment pregnancy.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of mortality and burden in women globally. A healthy diet important for the prevention CVD. Research has consistently favoured Mediterranean as cardio-protective diet. Several studies have evaluated associations between cardiovascular outcomes, including traditional risk factors like hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity. In addition, consistent evidence suggests that components synergistic effect on due to its anti-inflammatory profile microbiome effects. While benefits are well-established, health advice dietary guidelines been built largely male-dominant studies. Few investigated beneficial sex-specific populations, those with non-traditional specific women, instance polycystic ovarian syndrome high-risk pregnancies, or more prevalent such chronic inflammatory diseases. Therefore, this review aims provide comprehensive overview current regarding relation outcomes.

Abstract Purpose Metabolic disease, including obesity and type 2 diabetes, are amongst the most significant health issues facing women of reproductive age. To date, no antenatal weight management tools have reduced risk adverse outcomes for with their offspring, resulting in a shift focus to pre-conception period. Although not yet recognised international guidelines, glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) being increasingly used prior conception. Methods A literature search PubMed, Medline, Embase databases identified relevant articles describing use GLP-1 RAs during pregnancy. Papers were selected based on relevance originality, clinical trials, large observational studies meta-analyses preferentially included. Results This narrative review summarises mechanism action effects observed non-pregnant adults. It synthesises available data from human animal regarding safety efficacy pregnancy, consequences inadvertent drug exposure early In considering need balance risks metabolic disease posed by exposure, it highlights areas where further research is needed guide decision-making. Conclusion may role facilitating loss improving However, there currently insufficient evidence demonstrate that this class drugs pregnancy improves outcomes.

Abstract Background Growing evidence demonstrates that maternal nutrition is crucial for the health of mother-to-be, and early life course offspring. However, most micronutrients, guidelines are inconsistent. This Delphi study aimed to investigate level expert consensus on micronutrient needs during preconception, pregnancy lactation. Methods We conducted a two-round web-based survey various topics including general approaches diet supplement use, existing guidelines. For periods lactation, questions focused importance strength use with following micronutrients low- high-risk populations: folic acid, choline, iodine, magnesium, calcium, iron, selenium, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, D K. Results Thirty-five experts participated in panel, who were healthcare professionals (HCPs), researchers joint HCP-researchers expertise nutrition, gynaecology and/or obstetrics. Panellists reached dietary agreed lack clarity consistency current guidelines, need education these areas HCPs, pregnant people population. low-risk populations, there was iron vitamin from preconception through iodine second third trimesters, respectively, DHA first trimester lactation calcium each phases improve outcomes foetal development strong, except (preconception), (first trimester), (both periods). There also advice should be tailored vegan/vegetarian diets, restricted diets due food intolerances, obesity, polycystic ovary syndrome, diabetes mellitus, previous nutrition-related complications. Conclusion The findings revealed robust aspects education, across specific at-risk groups requiring approaches.

Importance Food insecurity is a growing public health concern, but its association with perinatal complications remains unclear. Objective To examine whether food in pregnancy was associated the risk of and determine these potential associations differed by receipt assistance. Design, Setting, Participants This cohort study used data from survey conducted between June 22, 2020, September 9, 2022, at Kaiser Permanente Northern California, an integrated care system serving diverse population 4.6 million. included individuals who delivered singletons. Data were analyzed December 2023 to 2024. Exposure assessed using validated 2-item Hunger Vital Sign screener. Main Outcomes Measures Maternal (gestational diabetes, gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, cesarean delivery) neonatal (preterm birth, intensive unit [NICU] admission, small-for-gestational age [SGA], large-for-gestational [LGA]) extracted electronic records, composite adverse outcome (APO) maternal complications. Modified Poisson regression models adjusted for covariates stratified assistance pregnancy. Results Among 19 338 individuals, 2707 (14.0%) reported Individuals had higher diabetes (adjusted relative [aRR], 1.13 [95% CI, 1.01-1.29]), preeclampsia (aRR, 1.28 1.11-1.49]), preterm birth 1.19 1.02-1.38]), NICU admission 1.23 1.07-1.42]), APO 1.07 1.02-1.13]) compared without insecurity. 1471 (7.6%) received pregnancy, attenuated null, except 1.64 1.06-2.53]).
