The escalating global demand for protein and the imperative to meet sustainable development goals have driven emergence of biotransformation platforms, with methanotrophs showing significant potential in this field. In paper, metabolism, nutritional requirements, cultivation strategies, bioreactors are reviewed. Integrating upstream downstream technologies is also advocated advance methanotroph platforms toward a circular economy model. advancements utilizing biogas as viable carbon source wastewater nitrogen discussed, emphasizing need detailed quality control safety assessments ensure suitability single-cell animal feed. general, by integrating advanced nutrient recovery define new process routes, can bring better environmental benefits reducing emissions saving resources. Shifting renewable energy crucial achieving sustainability. By using power microbial fermentation, biomass dehydration, waste recycling, platform offset high consumption attain market competitiveness traditional sources.

This study assessed the potential of four bacterial (Methylococcus capsulatus) single cell protein (SCP) products as alternative sources for Pacific white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei) diets. A growth trial and a digestibility were undertaken, during which SCP compared with high-quality fishmeal soy concentrate, regarding their impact on ingredient digestibility, growth, feed intake whole-body composition juvenile P. vannamei. Seven diets formulated; one reference diet (REF) six test The consisted 85% REF 15% ingredient. Ingredients tested (SCP1–4), differed in processing conditions, (FM) concentrate (SoyProt). Growth utilization similar vannamei fed either FM or diets, whilst lowest observed SoyProt diet. Final content did not differ between However, had significantly higher final phosphorus body retention than indicates availability to SoyProt. Protein was FM, amino acid (AA) comparable three (SCP1, SCP2 SCP4). SCP3 product showed most AA, indicating possible influence conditions AA SCPs. Overall, this highlights that originating from M. capsulatus is viable source but should be taken into account.

Abstract Using single-cell-based proteins in pet foods is of interest, but little testing has been done. Therefore, our objective was to determine the amino acid (AA) digestibilities, assess protein quality a novel microbial (MP) (FeedKind), and compare it with other protein-based ingredients using precision-fed cecectomized rooster assay. Test included: MP, chicken meal (CM), corn gluten (CGM), pea (PP), black soldier fly larvae. Thirty roosters (n = 6/ingredient) were randomly assigned test ingredients. After 24 h feed withdrawal, tube-fed 15 g ingredient corn, then excreta collected for 48 h. Endogenous AA corrections made additional roosters. Digestible indispensable score (DIAAS)-like values calculated according Association American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO), The European Pet Food Industry Federation, National Research Council reference growing adult dogs cats. Data analyzed Mixed Models procedure SAS 9.4, P ≤ 0.05 being significant. All reactive lysine:total lysine ratios, an indicator heat damage, higher than 0.9, except CM (0.86). Digestibility dispensable >85% >80% respectively, digestibilities all In general, CGM had highest, while lowest digestibilities. Two exceptions tryptophan. Lysine digestibility MP that ingredients, tryptophan CM, CGM, PP. Threonine highest MP. Valine PP, DIAAS-like calculations identified limiting each depended on used life stage species animal. AAFCO guidelines, >100 suggesting could be as sole source dog cat diets; only methionine <100 kittens. For dogs, most commonly methionine, threonine, sources. cats, methionine. severely limited across stages considered. Further research cats necessary, data suggest tested high high-quality may useful foods.
