Livestock feed formulation has significant impacts on livestock production and the environment. Linear nonlinear constraints, framed as nutritional requirements specific objectives, present a continuous challenge in achieving optimal formulation. Many mathematical models, including linear programming, have been adopted to tackle this issue. However, approach is often excessively restrictive, primarily focusing cost minimization overlooking variability nutrient content fulfillment of other objectives. Conventional approaches, characterized by their limited operational scope inadequacy for robust decision-making process, challenges growers aiming achieve objectives beyond minimization. This study proposes many-objective optimization solving problem addressing challenge. The framework optimizes nine minimizing cost, weight number components, five constraints. By integrating constraints into comprehensive framework, we aim introduce flexibility enhance decision-making. proposed successfully balances providing with potentially adaptable tailored solutions. Growers can trade-offs across various enabling informed optimize formulation, productivity, promote environmental sustainability. Furthermore, visualization tools were utilized improve interpretability generated results obtained demonstrate acceptable compromise

Lower-lignin (LoL) varieties of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) have been developed in recent years, and the potential to positively impact animal performance. The objective this study was evaluate effects increasing proportion LoL hay diets fed lactating dairy cows. Research plots were planted with a conventional variety (CON; Dairyland Hybriforce 3400), 2 (LLG; 54HVX42 LLB; Aflorex HiGest 460). After harvest, blended equal proportions for feeding. Twelve multiparous Jersey cows (100 ± 4 d milk) used 3 × Latin square periods 28 d. Cows assigned containing 0 (CNTRL), 16.1 (MdLL), 32.2% (HiLL) diet DM as hay, which replaced CON. CON had average CP, NDF, lignin contents (DM basis) 20.5 1.15, 42.1 1.37, 6.81 0.57%, respectively, while averaged 19.8 0.75, 39.9 1.56, 6.07 0.28%, respectively. No difference observed DMI (20.4 0.61 kg/d). milk yield observed, averaging 31.0 1.02 kg/d across treatments. Similarly, no ECM (averaging 36.2 1.43 Feed conversion (ECM/DMI) tended increase linearly inclusion (1.74 1.80 0.03). fat content (1.39 0.075 4.51 0.219%) or protein (1.06 0.041 3.43 0.096%). Total methane production quadratically decreased from CNTRL MdLL then increased HiLL (441, 389, 412 18.2 L/d, respectively). differences on total-tract digestibility 67.2 0.55%) NDF 50.9 1.56%). concentration DE, ME NEL 2.82 0.021, 2.51 0.027, 1.72 0.030 Mcal/kg Our results suggest that replacing has production, composition, nutrient but may improve feed efficiency.

The safety of reclaimed urban wastewater (RUW) for the production hydroponic barley forage (HBF) was evaluated in terms effluent and characteristics, as well health performance lactating cows. study conducted on a dairy farm equipped with two chambers producing approximately 620 kg/d HBF fed. For experimental purposes, produced using RUW collected from an aqueduct plant processing membrane bioreactor treatment chain. A feeding trial carried out derived RUW. Sixty cows were randomly assigned to balanced groups fed standard total mixed ration (TMR) or TMR which 10 kg replaced 1 oat hay 0.5 maize. period lasted 7 weeks, including 2-week adaptation period, during each cow underwent physical examination, BCS scoring, blood sampling complete count biochemical panel, recording body weight milk yield quality, fatty acid composition heavy metal content. Ruminal pH continuously monitored by reticulorumen boluses, nutrient digestibility N balance determined at week 7. showed acceptable microbial load overall good quality irrigation water, even though supply P did not influence HBF. characteristics reflected supplied no anomalous components (i.e., high ion concentration) found. Feeding RW-derived had major positive negative effects animal production, ruminal pH, vivo digestibility, balance. use under conditions tested appears be safe status obtained. Overall, results do reveal any limitations tertiary water barley, so that wider systems seems realistic.
