Background: Depression has a negative impact on the health outcomes of hemodialysis (HD) patients, including decreased quality life and increased morbidity mortality rates. Therefore, this study aimed to determine prevalence depression its associated factors among HD patients in Hodeida city, Yemen. Methods: A cross-sectional involving 200 at Dialysis Center was conducted from February May 2022.Data were collected using 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9).Association sociodemographic characteristics with assessed chi-square, subsequently by multivariable logistic regression.Statistical significance set P-values <0.05.Results: The response rate 98% (200/204).Depression prevalent 63% city.Sex significantly depression, where female more frequently depressed than males (82.4% vs 56.4%, P < 0.001).In addition, employment status medical insurance unemployed employed (67.6% 52.5%, = 0.041) less their counterparts (47.1% 66.3%, 0.035).Conclusion: is highly city.Female sex, unemployment lack are predictors patients. These findings emphasize urgent need for targeted interventions.Implications practice: common so that, psychiatric physicians nurses increasingly needed centers implement mental assessment signs symptoms help early diagnosis management order improve patients' preventing outcomes.

As the incidence and prevalence rates of end stage renal disease (ESRD) rise globally, a disproportionate increase has been observed in elderly population. Singapore fifth highest treated ESRD worldwide, with upward trend being most apparent among those aged 70 years older. Although it is well-documented that patients suffer an impaired quality life compared to general population, there limited research focusing on unique experiences needs Asian populations. To address knowledge gap, this study seeks explore impact dialysis (≥70 old) examine coping strategies utilised by these patients. This qualitative involved semi-structured, in-depth interviews 7 peritoneal patients, 5 haemodialysis 4 non-dialysis supportive care caregivers Singapore. Interviews were conducted English, Chinese, Malay fully transcribed. QSR NVivo 11 software was used for analysis.Participants reported had three highly interconnected areas their life: (a) biological/physical (general symptoms, neuromuscular problems, skin problems poor sleep quality); (b) psychological (depressive anxiety fears, stress negative self-perceptions); (c) social (increased dependence family loss life). There four key participants cope biopsychosocial challenges: support (financial, practical emotional support); religious/spiritual (experiencing gratitude/contentment, power prayer belonging faith community); avoidance (cognitive distraction techniques); (d) acceptance (positive thinking problem solving). This provided insights into dialysis, as well cultural religious factors shape mechanisms Singapore, which can be further development implementation more holistic person-centred services help each patient achieve better life.

Depression is a frequently overlooked psychiatric symptom in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), seriously affecting their quality of life, risk death, adherence to treatment, cognitive abilities, and overall health outcomes. The study investigates the prevalence depression ESRD patients, along methods for assessment, diagnostic guidelines, underlying factors, consequences, management strategies. Beck Inventory (BDI), an optimal cutoff score greater than 14, has been identified as most accurate diagnosing ESRD, while emerging tools such vacancy-driven high-performance metabolic assays show promise evaluation. contributes adverse outcomes by increasing risks treatment withdrawal, suicide, impairment, well serving predictor mortality poor adherence. Even though tricyclic antidepressants selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors are commonly used, effectiveness remains unpredictable because clinical studies often have limitations small sample sizes, no randomization, missing control groups. Innovative approaches, nanomaterials traditional Chinese medicine, shown therapeutic potential reduced side effects. Future research should focus on specific high-risk populations, particularly older adults women under age 45, better tailor interventions. goal this improve understanding leading patient care, improved superior results.

Regular exercise can reduce depression. However, the uptake of is limited in patients with end-stage renal disease undergoing hemodialysis. To address gap, we designed a gamified non-weight-bearing intradialytic program (exergame). The exergame virtually supervised based on its interactive feedback via wearable sensors attached lower extremities. We examined effectiveness this to depression symptoms compared nurse-supervised 73 hemodialysis (age = 64.5 ± 8.7years, BMI 31.6 7.6kg/m2). Participants were randomized into an group (EG) or (SG). Both groups received similar tasks for 4 weeks, three 30 min sessions per week, during treatment. Depression assessed at baseline and fourth week using Center Epidemiologic Studies Scale. showed significant reduction score (37%, p < 0.001, Cohen’s effect size d 0.69 EG vs. 41%, 0.65 SG) no between-group difference observed (p > 0.050). expressed positive experience including fun, safety, helpfulness sensor feedback. Together, results suggested that low-intensity feasible routine It also appears be as effective symptoms, while reducing burden administrating dialysis clinics.
